A Quarter to Tea – Tea Review

Today’s tea review are teas from A Quarter to Tea, an online etsy shop. Admittedly, I got a soft spot for etsy sellers, since I am one myself as I sell crochet critters and patterns.

I have four A Quarter to Tea teas and I’ll be reviewing two today, and the other two soon. For today’s review I selected fall themed teas. Little Orange Tea Owl is here in a pretty simple Halloween costume.

Apple Almond Spice Cake Black Tea

This black tea blend is a limited edition! The dry leaf is organic nilgiri black tea, hojicha, chicory, clover and chunky almonds, shattered cinnamon sticks and apple slices.

I used the entire 6 gram sample and steeped it with about 10 oz of 200F water in a gravity infuser for 4.5 minutes.

I discovered my new owl mug is too big for the tea, after the session I checked and this is a 22oz mug, holy hoots! Apple Almond Spice Cake black tea steeps up a deep brown smelling lightly of spice.

First sip you get a light malty black tea base warmed by the cinnamon spices. There’s a slight sweet nutty flavor. End of sip is fresh apple flavor like I bit into an apple chunk in my apple cake. The blend has an apple cake aftertaste. Apple Almond Spice Cake black is a very nice blend that has a good balance of tea taste and blended flavors.

I took a Nanaimo bar break here. I love nanaimo bars!

This black tea uses a ceylon black base, with cinnamon, cacao nibs and sprinkles.

EEEE, little pumpkin sprinkles!

I treated this tea the same last the previous one, so 200F, 6 grams of leaf, steeped for 4.5 minutes in a gravity steeper. Brew my pretty MUHAHAHA!

Syrupy Pumpkin Pancakes black  has a pumpkin flavored spices, heavy creamy body black with a hint of maple. This tea is like drinking a syrupy moist pumpkin pancake you made the day after Thanksgiving with the leftover tinned pumpkin. This blend the flavor is stronger than the previous tea but still not overpowering the black tea base. Out of the two teas so far, this one is my favorite.

I’ve been recently upset that DavidsTea’s Pumpkin Chai has changed in flavor for the bad so I’m tempted to snag more A Quarter to Tea‘s pumpkin teas for my stash. Right now there’s 4 pumpkin teas – Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake, Syrupy Pumpkin Pancakes, Pumpkin Spice Black, and Maple Pumpkin Chai. YUM!
