Oooooh a candy corn tea! NICE! This tea idea was posted on Steepster and I totally supported it. I do like candy corn, especially if it is slightly soft in texture. Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays. Sadly, I’m not doing anything for this halloween as I got a vacation coming up
I was planning on buying some candy corn to accent the photos in this review, but I crocheted one instead.
Dry Leaf
To my surprise, I found whole candy corn inside the package! Very cool! The dry leaf of Candy Corn Black Tea smells strongly of sugar and vanilla. I’m getting flashbacks of crazy halloween sugar highs!
Steeping of Candy Corn Tea
I did my usual black teas steeping method I use on 52 Teas’ black teas, so 200f for 2 minutes. Well technically more like 2:15 minutes, I got caught up getting one steeping picture: Bubble bubble toil and trouble!
My tea came out a rich wood colour that smells like candy corn, oh yeah! This tea appears to have some debris from the candy corn.
Hmmm.. I wonder if the candy corn melted? Time to do some tea leaf digging! Whoa, about 50% of the candy melted into the tea!
Tasting of Candy Corn Black Tea
Candy Corn Black Tea sips in a rich, slightly malty black tea flavor that develops a sweet sugary honey note by the end of sip. The sweetness is fairly sugary, as if I added a teaspoon of sugar to my cup. With that said, I’d personally not and any further sweetener to this tea. As the tea cools, the tea gets sweeter, but also has a slight caramel flavor. No bitterness or dryness in this tea.
