Keemun Black tea is an organic, fair trade black tea from the Jiangxi Province of China. This tea is sold by Little Red Cup Tea co., online seller of traditional loose leaf teas that are also sustainable, certified organic and fair trade. This tea seller is based in Maine, USA.
Not the most exciting dry leaf appearance, Keemun Black tea looks like tight black sticks of tea. I bet you black tea drinkers are drooling! A little bit of a fruity scent from the leaf.
I followed Little Red Cup Tea co’s brewing guidelines of 200F for 2 to 4 minutes, so I steeped my Keemun Black tea for 3 minutes in 200F water. The 2 minute mark I took a sample and added an extra minute for extra oomph.
Keemun Black tea steeps up a gorgeous golden brown with an earthy fruity scent.
Tasting of Little Red Cup Tea co’s Keemun Black tea
Little Red Cup Tea co.‘s Keemun Black tea sips in with brown sugar notes with contrasting earthy, spice and woody notes. Mid sip the earthy wood flavor peaks into a nice richness with also with a bit of smoke, 3/10 on the Smoke-o-meter. End of sip Keemun Black tea has a mix of light briskness, fruity notes and dark chocolate. As the tea cools, I’m getting more fruity notes and a touch of floral. A dynamic tea! With the shorter steep time I found Keemun Black tea was more sweeter and less rich.
Isn’t it cool how Keemun’s can taste different? The last keemun I had was smooth and sweet. I found Little Red Cup Tea co.‘s Keemun Black tea to be a more smokey rich tea, a perfect cup of tea for a chilly morning.
If you love black teas, especially Keemuns, I’d give Little Red Cup Tea co.‘s Keemun Black tea a try for a smokey keemun. This keemun is also fairly priced, at this time, a 2oz sample for $4.75!
