2020 November White2tea Club feat. 2020 Old Arbor Autumn Sheng

The 2020 November White2tea club by volume doesn’t have much tea but it is quality! This month has a 50 gram cake of 2020 Old Arbor Autumn Sheng Puer and 25 grams of Yan Hong, a Fujian black tea, both tea club exclusives. 2020 November White2tea Club’s Yan Hong On top of being a Fujian black, this tea comes with 1 year of rest. Over the years I’ve also come to notice a lot of black teas, especially compressed, taste best after a year. That is something you’ll want to taste yourself as I know some who dislike black teas… Continue reading, hoot!

2020 October White2tea Club feat. 2020 Saturday Mass

It is 2020 October White2tea club time! This month has two teas available for purchase and two club exclusives. I am skipping the 2020 Hot Brandy minis and squirreling them away for travel. 2020 Saturday Mass Chenpi Shou Puer The 2020 October White2tea club has a single 7g mini of Saturday Mass. This tea is a shou blended with aged chenpi/orange, which is a part of their small-batch shou collection. The tea mini has a gentle orange scent. I used the whole 7 gram mini in a ~100ml gaiwan, steeped with boiling water, gongfu style. Rinsed, Saturday Mass has an… Continue reading, hoot!

Vadham Teas’ Chai Latte Instant Mix – Matcha Lemongrass, Ashwagandha Cinnamon, and Turmeric Ginger

Seattle’s weather has been cold and extra grim, so it is chai time! Today I have Matcha Lemongrass, Ashwagandha Cinnamon, and Turmeric Ginger Chai Instant Lattes from Vadham Tea. Vadham Teas’ Chai Latte mixes have vegan-friendly milk and sweetener and prepackage for easy use. Each box is 120grams, 8 grams x 15 packets of instant chai mix. They all contain instant black tea, so even the Turmeric Ginger has caffeine. To make, mix a packet in 7oz/ 200ml / just under 1 cup of hot water. For today, I used 200F/93c water and mixed it with an electric frother. Matcha… Continue reading, hoot!

August 2020 White2tea Club feat. Lapsang Souchong Collection

The August 2020 White2tea club is a sampling of their entire line of Lapsang Souchong (Zhengshan Xiaozhong). These big sample clubs take either one horribly over caffeinated day or a couple of days to drink for me, so I just sampled the black teas that weren’t the traditional or traditional smoked. For all teas, I went with gongfu style with boiling water in a fast pour glazed teapot. I used a ratio of 1gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size. Fruit Bomb Lapsang from White2Tea My favorite Lapsang from last year! Fruit Bomb Lapsang smells like dried cherries and… Continue reading, hoot!

Oooo a waffle cake! The Gelanghe cake has a sweet golden raisin scent. Each full-sized square clocked in around 4g. The compression is wicked tight, just snapping off pieces was a bit tricky. I used 1 gram of leaf per 20ml of vessel size, steeped in boiling water, gongfu style. I did a long rinse and this… Continue reading, hoot!

Zach’s Breakfast from Zadiko Tea Co – Tea Review

Back when I moved to the US and had not much to do, I started writing this tea blog in 2013 but also watching a lot of Youtube. I had subscribed to Buzzfeed’s many channels and over the years watched four guys eventually form a team, The Try Guys, and become successful internet celebrities. I always had a smile seeing Try Guy’s Zach drinking tea – he even has the Tea Spot’s Urban Tea Tumbler, one of my favorite tea bottles. Recently, Try Guy Zach launched his own tea company, Zadiko Tea Co, with 2 teas. He also made a… Continue reading, hoot!

Comparison Tasting of Masu Wild Style Black Tea from Old Ways Tea

I have a mound of Old Ways Tea packets tempting me every time I look at it, but I also have the urge to hoard my treasure. After sorting through, I found a 3 year selection of Masu Wild Style Black tea. Storage wise, I left these packets in coolish room temperature. Is aged black teas a thing? Sort of, maybe unintentionally. I know some who dislike black tea that’s over a year old. Generally, I find pressed black teas really get good after a year. I’ve had some of my unintentional aged blacks from 2014 to 2016 and all… Continue reading, hoot!

2020 March White2Tea Club feat. Yesheng Hongcha and 2003 Nuo Xiang Shou Brick

2020 March White2tea club includes an unusual black tea, Yesheng Hongcha Gushu, a sample of 2003 Nuo Xiang Shou Brick, and a daily drinker Golden Oolong. I’ll be reviewing the first two teas as I imagine my readers are more curious about those. The Yesheng black is a club exclusive tea whereas the Shou brick is not. Yesheng Hongcha Gushu from 2020 March White2tea club I had a laugh with the description of this tea is a hoarded stash. I can somewhat relate, but not in that quantity. The leaves have a strong fragrance of tart raisins and dried cherries… Continue reading, hoot!

Wild Northern Thailand Apple Pie Green and Moonlit Mint Black Tea from Love Some Tea

I have the hankering for some flavored teas, so let’s drink some dessert teas today. Love Some Tea uses wild-grown tea from Northern Thailand, making the base tea something special. I previously reviewed Love Some Tea, including their teas without any added flavorings. Love Some Tea’s Moonlit Mint Black Tea Love Some Tea’s Moonlit Mint is simply their wild black Northern Thailand tea with peppermint oil. To infuse this tea, I used 4 grams of leaf, 9.5oz/ 280ml of 200F/ 93c water for 2 minutes. Moonlight mint sips in fairly pepperminty. As the sip goes on, it gets dark, woodsy,… Continue reading, hoot!
