I saw Prana Chai at the 2016 World Tea Expo and regret not getting some to take home. I visited Prana Chai at the 2017 World Tea Expo determined to bring it home for EVIL OWL experiments. Prana Chai is a lot of fun. Look at this mound! Prana Chai is made of black Ceylon tea, Australian Bushland Honey, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, peppercorns, cloves, fresh ginger, salt. That sticky sheen is the honey, which acts as a natural preservative. Prana Chai has a shelf life of 1 year, even after it is opened. Dry Leaf and Preparation I can’t … Continue reading, hoot!
I love my The Wall mug from Boreal Wildcraft that I bought backups. What I didn’t get to explore are Boreal Wildcraft‘s teas. Since they are based in Winnipeg, Canada, they took inspiration from the Canadian wilderness for their tea blends. Today’s review is Boreal Wildcraft’s Chaga Chai. What is Chaga? The dozens of health fitness scammers that fill my spam with blog requests say it is magical, but all that interests me is it is a mushroom that tastes like black tea. What I like about this tea blend, in particular, is that it is wild harvested Manitoba chaga mushrooms. … Continue reading, hoot!
Ah yeah, let’s roll out the Christmas themed teas! Let’s start off with Secret Garden Tea Company’s Christmas Spice Tea. This tea seller is from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, hurray my hometown! Dry Leaf Christmas Spice goes with the angle of the holidays being of cranberries – lots of plump dried cranberries in this tea with a strong spice scent. Upon looking at the ingredients list, this tea contains black tea, citrus peel, almonds, vanilla bean, clove, rose petals, and cardamom. Steeping Instructions I went with my default western style steeping method for black tea – boiling water, 10 oz mug, … Continue reading, hoot!
When my mother in law was in New Calendonia last year, she brought me back tea! Interesting tea at that – KeriKeri Tea Honeybush Chai. What makes KeriKeri Tea organic’s Honeybush Chai unique is the ingredients – Organic honeybush, whole cloves, cardamon, ginger, cinnamon flakes and native New Zealand horopito pepper. That sounds spicy! Before I look up what horopito pepper tastes like, let’s sample the tea! Dry Leaf It is really hard to say something interesting about rooibos and honeybush leaves as it looks like wood chunks. So yeah, the dry leaf looks like wood bits in red, cream and dark … Continue reading, hoot!
I have a couple really good looking flavored tea blends that I’ve been meaning to open and sample. S’mores Chai and Tiramisu Oolong! Very unique teas. 52 Teas have some really neat tea blends that I hope will continue. With that said, there’s a kickstarter going on for the 52 Teas Great Take Over, by the lovely LiberTeas at the SororiTea sisters! Man, I hope this kickstarter gets funded, I want that Maple Cheesecake Tie Kwan Yin! Anyways, the teas I have today aren’t for sale at the moment, though you can wishlist and request them to be reblended, or pledge … Continue reading, hoot!

Country Breakfast Tea is a black tea with maple syrup, lapsang souchong, maple hickory smoked bacon jerky and chai spices – ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, coriander, cloves and black pepper. This wildly creative tea blend is from TeaFolks, tea seller based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their teas can be purchased online. First off, this tea has REAL BACON in it. This tea is not vegetarian! I’ve had bacon teas in the past, Maple Bacon Iced Tea from Southern Boy/ Zoomdweebies which has bacon flavors or imitation bacon in it but not the real stuff. I didn’t think real bacon tea could even … Continue reading, hoot!
TEA INFUSED CHOCOLATE! Yes! As a tea lover I am down with the tea + chocolate idea. Spicely, a California based company, has a big line up of spices, herbs, extracts, teas and now chocolates! Many of their products are at stores like Whole Foods, but they also have their own Boutique in San Francisco. You may also order their products online. I got a bunch of samples from Spicely at the World Tea Expo – tea and chocolates! I guess I wouldn’t of mind some spices too. My spice collection is also out of control (like my tea, yarn and nail polish collections). … Continue reading, hoot!
Mango Spiced Chai Tea is a black tea chai mix sold by Hula Girl. I bought this tea mix from Hilo Hattie when I was in Hawaii, however it looks like you can buy from Hula Girl The Store online, or from Amazon.com. Trip to Hawaii not required! I got this out of desperation as early into my tours of Hawaii, I didn’t see any loose leaf tea, just the bagged stuff. I thought the promise of mango flavor sounded really neat for a chai. I used to drink, I think Tazo Chai Concentrate mix, but moved onto loose leaf chai … Continue reading, hoot!

This festive tea is from Simple Loose Leaf, online US tea seller. Mmmm, gingerbread! This Christmas will be a busy time for me! I am ready to get my baking on with family-secret-recipe butter tarts and piles of cookies and fudge. I also do a gingerbread house kit every year! The Tea Owls and I are very excited to review some holiday teas! Dry Leaf Upon opening the bag, I got blasted with ginger! So … Continue reading, hoot!
