2021 July White2tea Club feat. Guangzhou Storage Puer

White2tea has lovely natural storage located in Guangzhou City. The 2021 July White2tea club is a flex comparison between 2013 Yiwu sheng puer stored in Guangzhou and not Guangzhou. 2013 GZ Natural Storage Yiwu Sheng Puer The leaves have a bruised peaches and copper scent. As usual and for both teas, I used a gongfu ratio of 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped in boiling water. After a rinse, the leaves smell like a fruity pawn shop. First, Second, and Third Infusion: 2013 GZ Natural Storage Yiwu starts off light and sweet with a blur of… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 June Old Ways Tea Club feat. Tai Ping Hou Kui

The 2021 June Old Ways Tea Club came early for me, landing in late May. This club was sent out a bit early due to it containing some fresh Tai Ping Hou Kui. Also in the club is Yu Qilin and a Shui Xian. 2021 Tai Ping Hou Kui from Old Ways Tea Club I thought I was safe from more green tea this year, but I was not. Thankfully, Tai Ping Hou Kui is the least offense green tea to me (matcha is the exception of course). However, I love Tai Ping Hou Kui for the wild appearance of… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 May White2tea club feat. 2021 Spring Old Arbor Sheng

I was awaiting the yearly The Thing Is / RIP Chicken mini cake, but this year White2tea pressed it into 200gram cakes for everyone to purchase, so instead our $$$$ fancy mini cake is a 2021 Spring Old Arbor. Leaf and Steeping Method The scent is vegetal with a bit acidic but mainly smells very fresh. I used a gongfu ratio of 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped with boiling water. 200f/ 93c also would have been a good choice in water temperature. After a rinse, the tea has a sweet bell pepper and pan charred… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 April White2tea Club feat. 2021 Greens

2021 April White2tea club took its sweet time to arrive and shipping delays give me flashbacks to last year. This month in the club is fresh green tea and liubao! Also included is more of the lovely Yan hong, which I will skip as it was in a previous club box. Admittedly, I fear green tea month and have skipped in the past as I just do not like green tea. Again, I was too lazy to skip, so here I am. 2021 Spring Liubao from 2021 April White2tea Club Yet another fresh liubao. The scent is unusually floral for… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 April Old Ways Tea Club

It is Old Ways Tea Club time! The fourth tea club box has 2020 Shi Ru Stone Milk, 2014 White Tea Brick, and 2020 Niu Rou Huang Pian – 2 oolongs and a white tea! I was most excited about the white tea and the huang pian. 2020 Shi Ru (stone milk) Oolong Well, I was dumb and the package exploded when I opened the tea packet. The leaves here have a roasted caramel and plum scent. Both oolongs in the club I went with a gongfu ratio of 1gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped in boiling… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 February Old Ways Tea Club

For the 2021 February Old Ways Tea Club box we got three teas: 2020 Zhengyan Rou Gui, 2020 Mom’s Pick Teji Rou Gui, and a big bag of 2020 Winter tea. Let’s start drinking! 2020 Zhengyan Rou Gui Cutting open the tea package releases a strong roasted and nutty scent. Zero hoots were given, so I filled the gaiwan, so my gongfu ratio clocked in at around 1 gram per 12.5ml for all these teas unless otherwise noted. After a rinse, the hot leaves have a sweet nutty scent. I had a problem pegging down this tea, it is so… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 February White2Tea Club feat: 200X Failcorp Shou Puer

White2tea club time! For the 2021 February White2tea club, we got an aged shou, black tea, and a sheng with a little age.  200X Failcorp Shou Puer 200X Failcorp a mystery warehouse/auction find, with the best guess on age, with maybe Jingmai or Bulang material. White2tea has this cake priced at $68 for 357 grams (at the time of writing). The leaves smell like I am working on the garden – lots of dirt and mulch scent – like a dirty rooibos. I used 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped in boiling water. After a rinse,… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 January White2tea Club feat. Exclusive 2020 Amalgamation of Capitol

The first White2tea club tea of 2021! 2021 January White2tea Club is a 100 gram fire roasted bamboo shou – 2020 Amalgamation of Capitol – exclusive to the tea subscription. Also included is a tea needle for breaking said bamboo shou. Leaf and Steeping Method This was presented well and easy to get into as the top comes off and a bamboo length is already broken. 2020 Amalgamation of Capitol’s scent is mostly of roasted bamboo, along with earth, slightly funky, shou. This won’t be the perfect example of this tea as I’m taking tea from the top, which has… Continue reading, hoot!
