Lime Jello Salad Green Tea from 52 Teas – Tea Review

I remember going to a buffet with my little 5 year old cousin. Buffets, especially back in the early 90’s, always had jello but this buffet in particular only had jello salad. The jello was lime with streaks of red and green cabbage and a little carrot in it. I picked out a large wiggly cube for my little cousin. Turned out, he never had jello before. He cried right after noticing it wiggle around on his plate, but we finally convinced him since that his older cousin liked it, so will he. He caved and finally tasted it, ending up … Continue reading, hoot!

52 Teas Reboot and Review

There is a 52 Teas Kickstarter going on right now and it’s going to fund! Only a few days left! If you love tea blends you really need to check out The 52Teas Reboot Kickstarter! Let’s get’em stretch goals! I’m really excited for Lime Jello Salad Green tea and that Maple Cheesecake Tie Guan Yin! I’ve done a number of 52Teas reviews, all really fun blends. A trend I noticed, even though the flavors can be adventurous, the tea is still the center piece. They release a new tea blend every week, occasionally reblending some. I always recommend getting on the … Continue reading, hoot!

Sweet Carrots Green and Basil Lemonade Oolong from Pekoe Sip House – Tea Review

I’m in the mood for something fun. I’ve been drinking lots of unflavored blacks and pu’er these days, I could use some unique teas to inspire me. Pekoe Sip House is based in Boulder Colorado and they have cafe locations and a new online shop! Pekoe Sip House ethically sources their teas, composts at their cafes and donates to local communities and causes. However, what caught my eye is their tea selection – Pekoe Sip House has some really unique tea blends! Persimmon Gelato Rooibos! Green Fig Green tea! Jumpin Juniper White! Pekoe Sip House also has a good selection of … Continue reading, hoot!

Coffee Leaf Tea, Armando’s Original Blend from Wize Monkey – Tea Review

This morning I was in the mood for something different. I’m tired after last nights World of Warcraft session involving my female Panda Warrior (named Alishan)’s tour of shield slamming baddies in heroic dungeons. Shield Charge! SLAM! Panda Panda! I’m tired enough to want to drink a crazy weird tea. Enter Wize Monkey Armando’s Original Blend Coffee Leaf Tea. Wut? Probably one of the few times you’ll hear a coffee like product here at Oolong Owl. These are the leaves off a 100% organic Arabica coffee plant grown in Nicaragua. I don’t know much about coffee, but coffee has a harvest season … Continue reading, hoot!

Pu-erh Bordeaux from Rishi Tea – Tea Review

Today’s tea review is Rishi Tea’s Pu-erh Bordeaux – an organic and fair trade certified pu’er tea with red wine grape skins, blackberries, raspberries and lavender flowers. Everything in this tea is organic! Awhile back, fellow Steepster members who also are knitters/crocheters did a mystery swap of tea and yarn. I got 3 balls of yarn and this tea – Pu-erh Bordeaux! This is my first Rishi Tea.. not counting meeting them and drinking all their teas at the World Tea Expo 2014, haha! Looking at Rishi Teas, they have a huge line up of USDA organic teas – if you prefer … Continue reading, hoot!

La Perse Saffron Teas

So, when I think of a luxury tea I think of a really old pu’er cake or a taiwanese oolong blended by an old school tea master. What about luxury tea blends? Off the top of my head, teas with mulberries run pricey. How about teas with saffron in it, saffron being a very expensive spice? La Perse, UK tea seller, sells a saffron tea collection! I met this tea seller at the World Tea Expo. From what I read on the website, their teas are fair trade. I have the whole collection here: Black Ceylon Tea, Chamomile Flowers, Royal … Continue reading, hoot!

Country Breakfast Tea from Teafolks – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Country Breakfast Tea is a black tea with maple syrup, lapsang souchong, maple hickory smoked bacon jerky and chai spices – ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, coriander, cloves and black pepper. This wildly creative tea blend is from TeaFolks, tea seller based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their teas can be purchased online. First off, this tea has REAL BACON in it. This tea is not vegetarian! I’ve had bacon teas in the past, Maple Bacon Iced Tea from Southern Boy/ Zoomdweebies which has bacon flavors or imitation bacon in it but not the real stuff. I didn’t think real bacon tea could even … Continue reading, hoot!

Lemon French Macaron White Tea from Butiki Teas – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Lemon French Macaron White Tea is a white indian tea tea with almond slivers, amaranth, calendula and vegan organic natural flavoring. This tea is blended and sold by Butiki Teas, online tea seller in New Jersey, USA. I love lemon desserts – lemon pound cake, lemon bars, lemon cookies and lemon meringue pie! I haven’t had a lemon macaron though, but I imagine they are delicious! All the times I’ve had macarons I get suckered by crazy colours, so I’d get pistachio green or strawberry pink. There is an interesting story to Lemon French Macaron White Tea – Butiki Teas … Continue reading, hoot!

Shooting Starfruit and Watermelon Mint from DAVIDsTea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

This summer, DAVIDsTea, has mostly fruity herbals in the exclusive summer collection. I did a DAVIDsTea order last week as part of the customary 3 free samples they send, 2 of my samples were from their new 2014 Summer tea line up! The Summer collection will be released tomorrow, May 7th! With that said, here is a quick review of Shooting Starfruit and Watermelon Mint. Since it is a sample size, I only get one shot at the teas. I decided to prepare them both iced, perfect for summer. Both teas I prepared as per the instructions on the package, but with … Continue reading, hoot!
