2018 Han Lu and 2016 Shou Mei White Tea from Serendipiteacha Studio

For me, it is always exciting to try some teas from a local vendor. I did Serendipiteacha Studio’s Dancongs last time, but today I’ll be drinking some of their white teas. 2018 Han Lu (Cold Dew) White Tea Interestingly, 2018 Han Lu is a winter Fu Ding Da Bai cha. This tea is picked after the shou mei, exposing the leaves to colder conditions. I almost thought this is a Baimudan as there are some fuzz buds going on mixed with dark leaf. The leaf smells like sugary coconut drink. I used 1 gram of leaf per 22ml of vessel… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Ghost White Tea from Kuura

After multiple requests and a free shipping sale, I made my first order with Kuura. I’ve been wanting to try Kuura for a while, and a sale gave me a good opportunity to try them out. I am starting off with Kuura’s 2017 Ghost White Tea, a 200 gram cake. I blind caked it because I don’t mind try buying white tea in volume and Kuura does awesome wrappers. Leaf and Steeping Method Ghost is pretty with a rainbow of leaves and fuzzy grey buds. Sadly once steeped white tea gets ugly. I went with my usual white tea steeping… Continue reading, hoot!

2018 Cha Nong Hao Meng Song Village White Tea Cake from Yunnan Sourcing

I purchased 2018 Cha Nong Hao Meng Song Village White Tea Cake on a whim, hoping Meng Song white tea will be tasty. This white tea is all assamica, harvested in April 2018 and pressed in December 2018. Cha Nong Hao is a small batch brand, though I purchased it from Yunnan Sourcing. Leaf and Steeping Method Unwrapping the cake unleashed a scent bomb of floral. After it settled, the white tea smells like tulips. Gorgeous colors on the Meng Song white tea cake, I especially love the autumn red leaves. I encountered a strange curly thing that isn’t a… Continue reading, hoot!

2018 Jingmai Sundried Three Aroma Bai Mu Dan White Tea Cake from Yunnan Sourcing

I purchased Yunnan Sourcing’s 2018 Jingmai Sundried Three Aroma Bai Mu Dan White Tea Cake back in 2018 of October, but I let it sit in airtight storage with other white teas for over 9 months. Drinking it now I was hoping to get some of the watery youth out of the pressing, so I get max flavor without the hitting the stale stage yet. Prior to my purchase, I bought and reviewed the same tea in loose leaf form. I decided to go in on the cake as it is inexpensive and I wanted to increase my white tea… Continue reading, hoot!

White Crow 2018 Lincang Shoumei White Tea from Bitterleaf Tea

I cannot resist white tea cakes, so I purchased Bitterleaf Tea’s White Crow 2018 Lincang Shoumei White Tea. The wrapper art is super cool! The tea smells like sweet straw hay. Cake feels firm and is on the thick side. It is easy to pry off pieces thankfully, but you do need a pick or knife. I used 1 gram of leaf per 20ml of vessel used, gongfu steeped in boiling water. The hot leaf smells like straw and cactus. Tasting of Bitterleaf Tea’s White Crow 2018 Lincang Shoumei White Tea First and Second Infusion: White Crow 2018 Lincang Shoumei… Continue reading, hoot!

2019 March White2tea Club feat. Milan Dancong Comparison and 2015 Gongmei

2019 March White2Tea Club time! The March White2Tea Club contains two Milan Dancong oolongs – No Roast and 26 hour Roast, plus a bonus new 2015 Gongmei white tea. The Milan Dancongs are as a learning experience to compare what roast does to tea, whereas the Gongmei is a sample of a tea for purchase. 2019 March White2Tea Club Milan Dancongs No Roast Milan Dancong The No Roast Milan Dancong smells like floral cheerios. There are some long green leaves here. These leaves seem really poofy, I filled the gaiwan and it worked out to 1 gram per 15ml of… Continue reading, hoot!

2013 Shou Mei White Tea Cake from Fuding from Yunnan Sourcing

On the tea review for today is Yunnan Sourcing’s 2013 Shou Mei White Tea Cake from Fuding. This cake is only $10! (not including Yunnan Sourcing shipping). I had this in my cart, then I took it out as I figured I had plenty of 5 year old Shou Meis in my stash. Then the cake showed up with my last Yunnan Sourcing order. Tea blogger power freebie? Either way, I didn’t pay for this cake. I didn’t know what it was as it wasn’t labeled, figured it was an aged white of some kind, then tea friends helped as… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Red Peony White Tea Cake from Floating Leaves Tea

The 2016 Red Peony was one of my favourite white teas of all time. Floating Leaves Tea’s Red Peony is a Taiwanese Ruby 18 tea, which is usually made into black tea, but processed as a white tea. I also bought the 2016 Red Peony in volume, but it is a pain in the owl behind to store big bags of fluffy tea. Floating Leaves Tea pressed their 2017 Red Peony material into 100-gram cakes in Spring 2018. With the 2017 Red Peony in cake form, my storage prayers have been answered! It took some time for this 2017 Red Peony… Continue reading, hoot!

2018 Wuyi White Tea from Old Ways Tea

If you were not aware, us tea bloggers talk. I was over at Teadb’s place and we were talking review samples. I noticed he got Old Ways Tea’s 2018 White tea and I did not (I received mostly black teas in my review package). Of course, we all should get different things, I admit it gets weird when you notice every tea blogger reviews the same tea within a month. It is the optimal tea blogger operating procedure to get teas that the writer and their readers like. Anyways, he let me have one of the packets of white tea.… Continue reading, hoot!

Today we are sampling some Tea Crystals from Pique Tea. I’ve reviewed them in the past and they have since come out with some new teas – Sacred Lily Oolong and White Peony. These organic teas are freshly picked and cold brewed crystalized processed within 60 days. Pique Tea goes another step forward and their teas are triple toxin screened for pesticides, metals, and mold. Their teas are packaged into single serving packets to make around an 8oz/240ml/1 cup serving. If you are a long time reader, you know this tea drinker is a hooty tea snoot that is especially… Continue reading, hoot!
