2021 Shui Xian White tea from Wuyi Origin

I finally did a Wuyi Origin order. After many recommendations, what got me to order was their new 2021 Shui Xian white tea. This is a fresh Shoumei grade experimental Shui Xian, that is typically for oolong but processed as white tea. Leaf and Steeping Method The leaves smell like copy paper, but once I got my nose really in there with a heated gaiwan, it smells like a powdery floral bouquet. Today is a new tea company review – Hence Tea. They are based out of Los Angeles and carry Chinese Teas. The teas I have for review are their Songluo Black and Shou Mei White. Songluo Black from Hence Tea This black is from Songluo Mountain, which is in the Southern Anhui Province of China, between Keemun and Huangshan. Songluo Black’s leaves have a fruity and honey scent. For the first round of this black tea, I went gongfu style, 1gram per 15ml leaf to vessel ratio, steeped with boiling water. It is Old Ways Tea Club time! The fourth tea club box has 2020 Shi Ru Stone Milk, 2014 White Tea Brick, and 2020 Niu Rou Huang Pian – 2 oolongs and a white tea! I love Taiwanese white teas, so when Mountain Stream Tea was having a sale, I snagged 100 grams of 2020 Sanxia White tea. This is a 2020 Winter tea of Qin Xin Gan Zhong cultivar. Leaf and Steeping Method The leaf looks quite wirely, though in the bag you can see that is a hairy tea. Interestingly, the Sanxia white leaves has a sugar cookie scent. When I saw the leaf shape of the 2020 Nannou Leaf Assamica White Tea, I could not resist purchasing it. I enjoy teas from Nannou Mountain as I do not recall having white tea from there. Leaf and Steeping Method The 2020 Nannou Leaf Assamica White Tea is foil wrapped in 8 gram leaves. This tea has a fresh, juicy, and floral scent like freshly cut flowers. 2020 Mall Ninja Dojo and Horse Girl Clique from White2Tea

Today’s review is a set of white and black teas from White2tea. Mall Ninja Dojo and Horse Girl Clique are the same puer and sun-dried material from Menghai but processed differently. I purchased samples of both as this will be a fun tea tasting to see the same material in different ways. I enjoyed the names of these teas as they brought back so many memories of the horse girls at school (gosh don’t get in a fight with them talking English or Western saddles) and the characters at the mall sword store. The teas on the tea table today are from Shifting Senses and Xiang Tu Cha Shuo. They source high quality teas and offer destination tastings.
