Rehoot Review – 10 year Retasting the 2012 Noble Mark Shou from Mandala Tea

Today’s tea is a retasting of the 2012 Noble Mark by Mandala Tea. I started buying a lot of puer in 2013. Now that it is 2023, I’ve had teas in my storage for 10 years. A lot of shou back then had more of a mushroom profile. Or it was the bad fishy kind or mini touchas that tasted like cardboard dirt water. Noble Mark showed me good puer and got me to fall in love with the inky, creamy, and earthy flavor of fermented puer. Storage As I mentioned earlier, this cake has been in my storage for… Continue reading, hoot!

Rehoot Review – 2016 Menghai Golden Fruit Shou Puer

Back in 2017, I purchased and reviewed the 2016 Menghai Golden Fruit Shou Puer off Yunnan Sourcing. The description of this tea sucked me in promising a fruity peachy shou flavor experience. However, when I drank it in 2017 is was thin and funky, giving me stomach cramps. I’ve been in a shou mood recently, so I dug out this fruity shou from the back of my shou pumidor to give it a try. Rehoot Review – 2015 Pin Sheng Puer from White2Tea

I drank Pin way back in 2015 when it was freshly pressed White2Tea club tea. Back then it tasted quite watery. I’ve heard it got good in the time it has rested. 2015 Pin Sheng Puer has been highly requested that I ReHoot review. I keep meaning to do more re-reviews of puer and aged teas, but I keep getting so much new stuff in it’s a little tricky to schedule around. As a reminder, 2015 Pin Sheng is Lincangy blend of 2013, 2014, and 2015 material. Leaf and Steeping Method For today’s review, I used 1 gram of leaf per… Continue reading, hoot!

ReHoot Review – 2012 Qui Yun Wild Arbor Sheng Puer from Yunnan Sourcing

Welcome to the first Oolong Owl ReHoot. I’ve been interested in revisiting teas, particularly the puer I’ve been aging in my stash, on how it is doing or how my tastes have been changing. Our first ReHoot is of Yunnan Sourcing’s Qui Yun Wild Arbor of Yiwu Mountain. I reviewed this tea back in August 2013, so this tea barely had a year of age on it. Keep in mind, I had been blogging for 7 months and this was I think my 4th or 5 puer cake I purchased, so I was a complete noob. There is no product listing… Continue reading, hoot!
