2020 February White2tea Club feat. Oolong Sample Fest

The 2020 February White2Tea club is a big sample haul of their oolongs. All these oolongs are from 2019 so they have neatly rested from roasting. The oolongs featured in this monthly tea box are Jin Guan Yin, Stone Sparrow, Shin Jin Gui, Stone Milk, Shui Xian, OBSX, and No2 Rou Gui, all of which can be found at White2Tea. As seen on the handout, these teas should be fine without a rinse, so that is what I did. For all teas, I used 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, gongfu steeped in boiling water with no… Continue reading, hoot!

2019 December White2tea Club feat. 2019 XXXmas Love Pistol Sheng Puer

The 2019 December White2teaclub is an exclusive 200gram cake of 2019 XXXmas Love Pistol Edition. 2019 XXXmas Love Pistol is a huangpian (big ugly yellow leaves) blend of sheng puer. I had to drink this for Christmas, despite not trying all the October and November White2tea club teas yet. This year’s huangpian holiday cake is my favorite wrapper so far. I was planning to frame the wrapper but with my Black Friday White2tea order, I got the matching chabu! As a side note, after reading on the wrapper this is the “love pistol” edition, I cannot get this EXO song… Continue reading, hoot!

2019 September White2Tea Club

White2Tea club of September 2019 had an assortment of different teas – two black teas, a white tea, and an oolong processed into a black tea. Red Milan is available for purchase at White2Tea, whereas the rest are tea club exclusive. Red Milan Milan varietal dancongs seem a favorite of White2tea. This Red Milan, in particular, is a modern version from Guangdong processed as a black tea. Red Milan’s leaves are aromatic and smell like a grape juice box. I treated Red Milan as an oolong as I didn’t read up on the tea until I was editing my review.… Continue reading, hoot!

2019 August White2Tea Club Feat. 2014 Gongmei Brick and 2019 Dangerfield Sheng

If you are reading this review at release, yes this is the 2019 August White2Tea Club and it is November. I am catching up slowly. Generally, I drink these clubs in order, but August I did not. Upon hearing there was a 2014 Gongmei white tea sample in it, to be sold as a 500 gram brick, I drank it immediately in case I need to make use of the discount code with the added bonus there was a free shipping sale too. And guess what, I did make use of the discount code.   View this post on Instagram  … Continue reading, hoot!

2019 June White2Tea Club feat. 2019 Hype Sheng Puer

Hype is back! White2tea’s 2019 Hype Sheng puer sports the same wrapper art as last years though the blend is different as it includes aged material. We seem on track to get a new Hype cake in the White2Tea club and this is one of the months it is a deal as the club price is cheaper than the cake (club= $29.99, Hype = $38 not including shipping). Also included in this month’s club is 2019 If You’re mini cake, but I’ll save that for another blog post. Leaf and Steeping Method As I unwrapped Hype I got a lovely… Continue reading, hoot!

Jin Xuan GABA Black Tea from Eco-Cha

Today’s tea is Eco-Cha’s Jin Xuan GABA black tea was a part of their tea club. This is a Summer 2018 tea promised to be rich and fruity. I have been on the hunt for interesting (and not horrible) GABA teas, and Eco-Cha fits the bill. Alas, this GABA black is from an old tea club, but it is an interesting tea and example of the fun teas Eco-Cha gets for its exclusive members. Eco-Cha goes more into this tea in their blog. Leaf and Steeping Method The dry leaf has a soapy plum scent on the twisted long leaves.… Continue reading, hoot!

2019 May White2Tea Club feat. 2019 The Thing Still Is Puer

For 2019 May White2Tea club we have a 50 gram mini cake of “The Thing Still Is”. These mini cakes are my favorite and I am happy chicken funeral forest tea has made a return! If you are not familiar with this tea, you will need to read my review about 2018 “The Thing Is”, including the video playlist first. Leaf and Steeping Method 2019 The Thing Still Is’ dry leaf has a jammy and vegetal scent to it. As usual, I used 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, gongfu steeped in boiling water. I used a… Continue reading, hoot!

December 2018 White2Tea Club feat. 2018 XXXmas Sheng Puer

Today’s review of an exclusive tea to the White2tea club. The December 2018’s club is a 200 gram 2018 XXXmas sheng puer, a huangpian material cake. Around Christmas, I revisited last year’s White2Tea club 2017 XXXmas cake. Last year, it was very young and I felt it was too green. With a year under its belt, it is still very green and bitter, so I’m giving it another year. However, 2018’s XXXmas sheng is a different blend. My cake sat for about a month and a half before tasting. Love the wrapper art, as usual. Leaf and Steeping Method And those… Continue reading, hoot!

January 2019 Eco-Cha Club feat. Long Feng Xia High Mountain Oolong

This is January 2019 club box from the Eco-Cha tea of the month subscription. I have reviewed their main line of teas years back.  If you are in looking for the gems, that is in their exclusive and limited quantity club teas. Unboxing the Eco-Cha Club, you get 75 grams of tea, and a special surprise (in our case, some sort of teapot scooper). Members are also provided with a PDF info sheet and video tea tasting by the Eco-Cha owner. If you prepay 6 months you get a clay teapot, at 12 months you get a teapot and bamboo… Continue reading, hoot!

November 2018 White2Tea Club feat. Dark Roast Tieguanyin

For the November 2018 White2tea club, everyone got 50 grams of the new Dark Roast Tieguanyin and three 7-8gram Mengku orbs. The Dark Roast Tieguanyin is available for purchase on the site…. or not, it’s sold out already, maybe it’ll come back? This month certainly felt poor value. 50 grams of the Dark Roast is $14.50, and the club is $30 a month. My guess is those Mengku orbs are good stuff to make up for it. That and really, if you want value, you aren’t in any monthly tea clubs, especially since small packet shipping prices are rising. I… Continue reading, hoot!
