I am slowly going through all my White2tea samples I’ve bought over the last year and finally got to 2019 Well, Well sheng puer. The material is a blend of different regions, promising to be subtle, “elegant, and ruthless”. Sign me up!

Leaf and Steeping Method
Well, Well’s leaf scent is light and leaning floral and sweet.

For this tea like other sheng puers, I went gongfu style with 1 gram of leaf per 15ml vessel size, steeped in boiling water. The hot leaf has steamed rice in banana leaf and candle wax smell but with a slight nose wrinkle tartness.
Tasting of White2tea’s 2019 Well, Well Sheng Puer
First and Second Infusion: Well Well sips in friendly and sweet. This sheng has a milky rice taste with a light spattering of mineral rock sugar and fresh broccoli notes. The texture is silky and smooth to drink. After drinking, I found a buttery floral aftertaste.

Third and Fourth Infusion: This tea is subtle. Well, Well sheng puer’s flavor is light still when I was braced to the usually steep 3-4 POW! The tea has gotten thick, coating the throat, and flicking my lungs on the way down. Well, Well’s flavor is of buttercups with a touch of osmanthus, with a long floral aftertaste.
Fifth and Sixth Infusion: I pushed this tea a bit, steeping it a touch longer. The floral pops a bit more, again osmanthus and buttery peaking at end of the sip, but then has a long aftertaste of more sweet floral that washes up my nose through my mouth. I walked off for 15 minutes and still could taste that floral note. There is a touch of bitterness, but nothing bad.

Seventh and Eighth Infusion: Well, Well shifted again – it’s stewy, tasting like a boiled the flowers to mushy bitter, but the aftertaste is heavy floral and citrus. Some sips are minerally.
The tea energy hit me as well – I can fell my eyes pinching together and my ears are ringing.

Ninth and Tenth Infusion: For the final infusions, Well, Well moved to heavy stewed bitter and slowly lost the floral aftertaste for astringent feels and bitter tastes. I did get some gut rot at this point, so I’m leaving to go eat a brownie.

Comments
White2tea’s 2019 Well, Well is a delicate, floral forward and complex tea. It has excellent aftertaste and a bit of tea drunk fun to boot! Well, Well is fairly approachable, though might be too light flavored and subtle for a newer drinker.
I drank Well, Well thinking the entire time it reminded me of White2Tea’s Bosch and 4am. If you are a fan of those teas you’ll likely enjoy Well, Well. That said, I enjoyed this session. This tea is on the pricier side – at this time of writing $129 per 200g cake.
