I’m a daily matcha drinker. More often, I simply throw 3 grams in some water then hit the gym. If I have the time in the morning, I will go all out with a bowl of matcha high in froth. 2017 Jinggu Bang Sheng Puer from Crimson Lotus Tea

Despite 2018 Spring teas almost ready, I still have 2017 Spring teas untouched. I’ve been plowing through my queue and it is great when I find some wins. Todays’ review is Crimson Lotus Tea’s 2017 Jinggu Bang Sheng Puer. This is a spring tea and described as a “fantastic representative of Jinggu area material.” Crimson Lotus Tea has the best sample wrapping. I love that I can just stuff these in my pumidor. Moonshine White and Sunlight White from White2Tea

I have been in white tea obsession mode these days, buying up all sorts of white tea to put into the Owl Aging Vault (which is just a cookie tin). Today, let’s try White2tea’s Moonshine and Sunlight White teas. I steeped both teas side by side in 200F/93C water, 1 gram of leaf to 20ml vessel size ratio. White2Tea’s Moonshine White Moonshine White is a Yue Guang Bai (YGB)/Moonlight white, that is a shade dried white tea. This Moonlight white is made of a cultivar tea that is usually for puer. Adagio Teas’ Green Rooibos Blends

After my Will It Tea Egg stunt, I started to question my Hibiscus consumption. I need a caffeine-free tea that I can drink iced in the evening. I don’t know how some of you can drink a vat of puer then go to bed because if I drink tea after 3-5pm I am not sleeping well that night. 2012 Tribute White Tea from Bana Tea Company

Bana Tea Company has some really good non-puer teas. Their Moonlight White from Jingmai is killer so am I pumped to see Bana Tea with some more white teas. With my last Bana Tea order, I slipped a box of 2012 Tribute White in. 2012 Tribute white is a Fuding, Fujian white tea. I volunteer myself as tribute, let’s drink this! Bamboo Dove from White2Tea

Because I’m crazy, I blind purchased an entire Bamboo Dove. Bamboo Dove is the same tea as White2Tea’s 2017 Turtle Dove but processed like traditional bamboo stuffed puer, and then roasted over a fire. White2Tea only sells Bamboo Dove by the 50 grams, but contact them and they’ll find a full piece for you. I ended up with a 336gram chunk. It is 13″/33cm long and 2″/5cm in diameter. Jeju Island Matcha and Black Tea from Teas Unique

Teas Unique sent me a box of unusual Korean teas. I most often come across green tea or hwangcha, but here I have matcha and a black tea. Teas Unique’s Hwangcha was pretty good with a big selection. Out of the box, I picked out the Jeju Island teas to review. Teas Unique’s Jeju Island Ceremonial Grade Organic Matcha I haven’t had good Korean Matcha. April 2018 White2Tea Club feat. Sparrow Tongue and Ganlu

This is the dreaded fresh green tea month of the White2Tea club. Green teas are not my thing, I much prefer young sheng, low oxidized oolongs, or matcha, as all of those teas give me more bang for my buck.  My personality also includes the more I dislike or am picky about something, the more I put up with less crap tea. Simple Sheng and Shou from Crimson Lotus Tea

Today’s review is Crimson Lotus Tea‘s Simple Puer line, which is designed as a good first puer and easy to brew. Both the 2017 Simple Sheng and 2016 Simple Shou are 50 gram cakes and pressed into easy to break 6 pieces, so in theory, each piece should break into 8 gram servings. No puer tools needed and 8 grams is a decent size for most gaiwan sizes. Crimson Lotus Tea Simple Sheng The dry leaf smells sweet, with the hot leaf leaning more floral.
