DAVIDsTea’s Glitter and Gold tea, Sparkling!

If you aren’t familiar, DAVIDsTea’s Glitter and Gold tea is a Chinese black tea blended with gold sugar balls, gold sugar crystals, lemon peel, cloves and vanilla. True to its namesake, Glitter and Gold does sparkle. Admittedly, if you brew this tea normally you might not see the tea sparkle. I owned 50 grams of this tea about 3 or 4 years ago and only once or twice saw it sparkle, an only when I used a glass tea mug. Not too long ago, I was gifted a couple servings of Glitter and Gold tea. One sleepy morning I decided to have a cup of Glitter… Continue reading, hoot!

Oolong Tea from Buddha Teas – Tea Review

There’s only been a handful of tea bag reviews here at Oolong Owl. Honestly, I’m a loose leaf tea drinker and I do not purchase bagged tea. My tea bag collection is mostly samples and really old teas leftover from my tea bag days. I just realized I should probably throw out those old tea bags – they are probably really old! I tend to drink bagged tea on really lazy and tired mornings. Those days I toss in a tea bag, add water and check my email while my tea bag over steeps. Anyways, I wouldn’t review a bagged tea… Continue reading, hoot!

He Kai Unfermented Puerh from Jalam Teas – Tea Review

Sheng time! He Kai Unfermented Puerh is an August 2013 harvest from He Kai, the northern foothill area of Bulang Mountain, Menghai County, China. Jalam Teas is a monthly tea club in which they send you a puerh cake every month. Each month has a detailed write up of the tea online of where the tea was grown and of the people who make it. It is an interesting read while you enjoy your tea! For He Kai Unfermented, I was excited to hear the tea was grown in a region that had a lot of wild orchids which is known to influence the… Continue reading, hoot!

White2tea Club December 2014 featuring 2008 Often Raw Puerh

I’m totally late with the White2tea Club December edition. Now that the holidays are over and the relatives have flown home, I finally have time to myself to drink tea by myself. No Dad lurking around with his smelly instant coffee. On the upside, my father put a dent in my spiced tea collection. I was super excited to see the offerings for this month – 2008 Often, a 250 gram sheng/raw puerh tuo with sweet wrapper artwork and a 25 gram sample of Barb’s Breakfast Black. The teas were part of a “Work Horse” theme for the month of December,… Continue reading, hoot!

Sweet Carrots Green and Basil Lemonade Oolong from Pekoe Sip House – Tea Review

I’m in the mood for something fun. I’ve been drinking lots of unflavored blacks and pu’er these days, I could use some unique teas to inspire me. Pekoe Sip House is based in Boulder Colorado and they have cafe locations and a new online shop! Pekoe Sip House ethically sources their teas, composts at their cafes and donates to local communities and causes. However, what caught my eye is their tea selection – Pekoe Sip House has some really unique tea blends! Persimmon Gelato Rooibos! Green Fig Green tea! Jumpin Juniper White! Pekoe Sip House also has a good selection of… Continue reading, hoot!

Reading Nook and Mindful Morning Tea from Plum Deluxe – Tea Review

Let’s check out some of Plum Deluxe teas today! In particular, Reading Nook and Mindful Morning from their signature blend collection. Plum Deluxe has a grounding, mindful, savor life vibe to their shop and. They also do seasonal tea blends. I was surprised to see all the purple themed packaging with my Plum Deluxe teas – I love the color purple and all the purple made me smile. (Looks like the label was wrong on Reading Nook) The steeping instructions for both teas are to steep with boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes. Both teas needed to be stirred in… Continue reading, hoot!

Lapsang Souchong from Joseph Wesley Black Tea – Tea Review

Today’s tea review is a Joseph Wesley tea – Black Tea No. 7 Lapsang Souchong. My tea came with a letter stating that this particular Lapsang Souchong is made the traditional way – NOT smoked over pine needles. Interesting. I associate Lapsang Souchong as drinking a steeping of my husband’s BBQ Smoker, so I wonder how a traditionally made Lapsang Souchong would taste. For housekeeping information, Joseph Wesley’s black tea No. 7 (Lapsang Souchong) is harvested from Wu Yi Shan rock cliffs, made by tea artisans in Tong Cheng Village in Fuijian Province, China. Joseph Wesley primarily sells high quality… Continue reading, hoot!

Coffee Leaf Tea, Armando’s Original Blend from Wize Monkey – Tea Review

This morning I was in the mood for something different. I’m tired after last nights World of Warcraft session involving my female Panda Warrior (named Alishan)’s tour of shield slamming baddies in heroic dungeons. Shield Charge! SLAM! Panda Panda! I’m tired enough to want to drink a crazy weird tea. Enter Wize Monkey Armando’s Original Blend Coffee Leaf Tea. Wut? Probably one of the few times you’ll hear a coffee like product here at Oolong Owl. These are the leaves off a 100% organic Arabica coffee plant grown in Nicaragua. I don’t know much about coffee, but coffee has a harvest season… Continue reading, hoot!

White2Tea Club for November 2014 – Tea Review

I have a lot of tea, so much I didn’t buy anything during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, despite the awesome sales. My last tea purchase is the White2Tea Club, a subscription tea of the month club from the awesome White2tea. When I got the package, I was very impressed with the variety I got. I’m late with this review as I took my time, saving drinking these teas for the right day I felt like treating myself. I got around to trying 3 out of 4 of the teas for this review. Inside the November White2Tea Club: 2014 Yesheng Qiaomu 50gram… Continue reading, hoot!
