Fashionista Tea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

I had the pleasure of meeting Fashionista Tea at the World Tea Expo 2014! I quite liked the idea of combining fashion and tea – it also helps that I think tea is becoming more fashionable! What caught my eye right away was the sleek packaging for Fashionista Tea. The leopard print heels are a nice touch. A number of their teas are Fair Trade and Organic certified, available loose leaf and sachets. I also have the pleasure of reviewing some of Fashionista Tea teas! A couple of the feminine Tea Owls were happy to help! First up – Organic Fashionista Blend –… Continue reading, hoot!

Magicienne Tea from Nina’s Paris – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Hi Tea Peeps! During the World Tea Expo 2014 I was able to check out Nina’s Paris! They had a gorgeous set up! I love their tins! Nina’s Paris also has quite a selection of teas, especially for black tea blends. I have sampled a few teas from Nina’s Paris before and they were quite good, especially their signature blend Marie Antoinette. While I was at their booth, they had their tea Magicienne to taste and it was fanstastic! I got a sample of Magicienne to take home – let’s sample it together! Dry Leaf The green tea here has a gorgeous vibrant green, accented… Continue reading, hoot!

2014 White2Tea 46&2 Raw Pu’er – Oolong Owl Tea Review

2014 White2Tea 46&2 Raw Pu’er is a tea from 2013 Jingmai leaves, spring 2014 pressed. This pu’er is from White 2 Tea, Beijing based online tea seller. First off – this has got to be the coolest pu’er name! When this tea arrived the other week, it spawned a Tool marathon for a few days, with a few extra plays of Forty Six & 2. White 2 Tea confirmed with me that the name of this pu’er is a reference to the Tool song! White 2 Tea has some really neat, modern pu’er cake wrapper art. I’m working off a sample so I don’t have… Continue reading, hoot!

Zhushan Oolong from Goe Tea via Tealet – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Zhushan Oolong is a high oxidized Taiwanese oolong from Goe Tea. I received this tea from Tealet. Tealet has more information on the tea grower – but the summary is Goe Tea, traditionally making light oxidation oolongs, has been playing with more oxidized oolongs with tasty results. Looking more into this tea, I found I could get it from Goe Tea, though a definite language barrier for me. With that said, it is really cool that Tealet helps bridge this tea grower to the US online market place. Not to mention every tea I tasted at Tealet at the World Tea Expo… Continue reading, hoot!

Meng Hun Unfermented Pu’er from Jalam Teas – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Meng Hun Unfermented Pu’er is a 2013 Autumn raw/sheng pu’er from the Menghai region. This tea is Jalam Teas‘ May Tea Club offering. The description of Meng Hun Unfermented Pu’er is very cool: A genuine special pick by Jeff from an area as well known for orchids and watermelons as it is for tea. Tucked into the north facing slopes of the Pulang Mountains in southwestern Yunnan, Meng Hun is a tea that has been ‘tamed’ by more consistent production methods. Jeff likes to refer to it as a ‘wild tea that has been tamed…but only just’.   As always, Jalam Teas has… Continue reading, hoot!

Phatty Cake II Ripe Pu’er from Mandala Tea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Phatty Cake II is a 2013 ripe/shu pu’er. This 100 gram pu’er cake is exclusively sold at Mandala Tea, Oolong Owl favorite online tea seller based in Rochester, MN. This cake is the sequel to Mandala Tea’s Phatty Cake (the first?), which at this time is still available for purchase. I have had the pleasure to review the first Phatty Cake, and it was a delicious, bold, smokey, mushroom, woodsy, party time kind of pu’er. When Phatty Cake II came out, I purchased it and held onto it for the right day for me to pu’er pick into. Dry Leaf Phatty Cake… Continue reading, hoot!

Lemon French Macaron White Tea from Butiki Teas – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Lemon French Macaron White Tea is a white indian tea tea with almond slivers, amaranth, calendula and vegan organic natural flavoring. This tea is blended and sold by Butiki Teas, online tea seller in New Jersey, USA. I love lemon desserts – lemon pound cake, lemon bars, lemon cookies and lemon meringue pie! I haven’t had a lemon macaron though, but I imagine they are delicious! All the times I’ve had macarons I get suckered by crazy colours, so I’d get pistachio green or strawberry pink. There is an interesting story to Lemon French Macaron White Tea – Butiki Teas… Continue reading, hoot!

Smart Soak Tea Stain Dissolver from Mandala Tea – Oolong Owl review

Got some stubborn tea stains? I heard much about Mandala Tea‘s Smart Soak Tea Stain Dissolver, so I had to try it out, so I purchased the 6oz bag with my last Mandala Tea order. I admit, I like my DIY tea cleaning method of simply rubbing baking soda on everything. Baking soda usually does the trick on most tea stains, and I found it especially effective upkeep on teaware to keep it looking pretty years later. Baking soda is also very cheap, easy to find in stores and usually in everyone’s pantry. However, there are some tea stains baking soda cannot… Continue reading, hoot!
