Coconut Dream is an organic Korakundah estate black tea with coconut. This tea blend is from New Mexico Tea Company, an US tea seller.
I’m in a tropical kind of mood. I think my head is still in vacation cruise mode as I snack on the treats I brought back from Hawaii. For some reason, I’m not getting sick of pineapple, coconut and macadamia nuts. It’s a sign! I should move to Hawaii! Hmm.. I wonder if there are Owls in Hawaii…. /google searches… ah ha, Pueo! Hoot! I wonder if they like tea?
Anyways, let’s have some tea! Intern understudy Tea Owl found a coconut shell prop!
Dry Leaf
Opening the package of Coconut Dream is like opening a bag of shredded coconut. BAM! Coconut! Inside, lots of wide coconut ribbons mixed in with black tea.
Steeping Instructions
I’m happy that New Mexico Tea Company has steeping instructions on their samples! Coconut Dream instructs to steep it at 212F/100C for 4 to 5 minutes. I steeped my cup for 4 minutes.
Coconut Dream steeps up to a rich dark brown tea with red undertones loaded with steamy coconut scent!
Tasting of Coconut Dream
Coconut Dream sips in rich, smooth, robust full flavor black tea. The main flavor is the black tea, which is great because dang its tasty! End of sip the smooth thick coconut flavor comes out. There is a slight nutty dryness as an aftertaste, mimicking that nutty coconut shell flavor. Very tasty! Not much else I can describe here wit this tea as it is simple and effective. As a tip, I found Coconut Dream tastes better to cool about 10 minutes after steeping.
Sweetened: This is it! Adding some german rock sugar pulls the coconut flavor to the spotlight, like I’m drinking coconut milk with a black tea finish!
Comments
What struck me right away was I prefer the black tea base used in Coconut Dream over New Mexico Tea Company’s Black Jasmine Cream. There is less brisk and dryness in the korakundah estate, but round enough flavor to compliment the added coconut. I found Coconut Dream quickly grew on me to be very tasty, especially after leaving my cup to cool.
With that said, New Mexico Tea Company‘s Coconut Dream is a lovely coconut black tea offering. This is a black tea blend for tropical and coconut tea lovers, as well as a black tea drinking looking for an exotic twist. I’d love to have a cup (or two) of Coconut Dream at afternoon tea with some coconut macaroon or chocolate dipped shortbread cookies.
