Drinking ALL of 2020 February White2Tea club at Once

In my last post, I reviewed the 2020 February White2tea club. Sometimes with these mega reviews I don’t use the whole sample so I don’t caffeine overload, but I don’t have enough for individual gongfu sessions. The day after I finished my review, I took the yancha leftovers, mixed them together, and steeped it. The teas in 2020 February club mix are Jin Guan YinStone SparrowShin Jin GuiStone MilkShui XianOBSX, and No2 Rou Gui.

All seven teas combined, the leaves smell of a crazy mix of roast, soap, bread, and fruit.

Since this is a bonus round, I’m doing my more casual tea brewing tea a wood-fired pot from Wang Family Tea.

Steeped up, it’s another potpourri of roast and assorted fruity scents.

First Infusion: This is actually pretty banging.

The club mix is highly mineral sweet as a first impression. The more I drink, the more the texture comes out starting heavy thick but then sharpening to squeaky glass. It’s strongly mineral wet rocks, a bit of saline, some baked bread, with a faint mishmash of fruity notes.

Second and Third Infusion: I could be convinced this is a purposefully made yancha blend, unlike the drink ALL* the white teas blend I did. Granted, this is 7 teas and not 90+.

This steeping developed great body – it’s full driftwood, chestnut, bread, rock sugar, and roast loaded with flavor without being sharp. The texture is that thick yet squeaky. The aftertaste is a mineral floral fruit salad.

Fourth and Fifth Infusion: My ratio is a bit low, so I am steeping longer. My yancha club mix is pretty dang smooth now starting with a lightly roasted wood and long peach raspberry flavor that lingers for a long time. Some of the sips perk up with tangy tart fruit, whereas others are balanced and flow.

Sixth Infusion: The final infusion showed the crazy of this tea. The blend has got astringency sharpness but mostly roasted nutty flavor as some teas went oversteeped dry while others didn’t. Overall, the club mix has settled to a mostly sucking on rocks flavor.

Comments

My blend of all the 2020 February White2tea oolongs somehow worked well. It was on the complex side but mostly complimented the other teas with most having a fruity, woody, roasted, or mineral flavor.
