Bananas and walnuts are a staple at my house, so whenever I feel like it I can whip up a banana bread or making my husband’s favorite banana pancakes. Banana flavored things are more often misses with me, especially if it has that gross artificial taste. I was the kid who’d give all their banana runts to my dad. I’ve tried a few banana teas, some good, others not so good. Butiki Tea, as I’ve said many times, does excellent natural tasting fruity tea blends, so I expect Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea to be a good cup of tea.
Dry Leaf
Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea has a big chunky tea appearance with large broken pieces of walnut, mystery half moons that upon further inspection are bananas and gorgeous long thick wisps of black tea. The package of Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea smells mostly like nuts.
Steeping Instructions
I followed the steeping instructions on the package, so 2 teaspoons of tea steeped for 3 minutes with boiling water. Easy peasy. Yellow ocher cup of tea with a light nutty scent. There is a little bit of debris in my cup.
Tasting of Butiki Teas’ Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea
Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat sips in with a sweet natural banana flavor up front. I can’t get over how real tasting the banana is – it’s like that yellow banana taste with a hint of brown spots, that has that firm sweet banana flesh. The walnut notes are light but linger at the roof of my mouth, adding a bit of interest to the cup but not taking away from the other flavor. The congou keemum base is quite good too – it’s not overpoweringly strong nor rich, but with lots of sweet malt and almost floral quality – the pairing with the banana and walnut is very delicious! Throughout the sip of Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat is quite sweet, so I rather not add sugar personally.
As my cup cools, the banana flavor becomes more stronger, whoa! My cup of Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat didn’t last long, it was very easy to drink, no dryness or bitterness too!
Resteep: I did a 4.5 minute resteep. There are only 9 servings in a 1 ounce package, so I’m hoping I can milk a few extra cups in resteeps! The keemun base is a touch lighter with sweet walnut accents. Not much banana flavor, but still a good western steeping of keemun. Actually, Butiki Tea sells just the congou keemun on its own too!

Butiki Teas‘ Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat is the best banana tea blend I’ve tried so far with its very natural tasting banana flavor! My next favorite banana tea appears to be discontinued/off season at the moment (DavidsTea’s Banana Oolong) but Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat still wins for the excellent black tea base and natural sweetness.
