Organic Mango Pear Deluxe is a white tea blend from ESP Emporium, online loose leaf tea seller.
I ordered this tea because the fruit combination sounded really cool! I don’t seen enough pear teas! LOL, pears bring up memories of living up in orchard country in British Columbia, Canada… sneaking in and snagging a few green pears. Don’t do that!
DRY LEAF: Nice mango and pear smell! The tea is mostly white tea leaf, with some apple and mango bits accented with marigold petals.
STEEPED: Fragrant mango pear scent – great combo! Bit of a weird dry smell at the end. The colour is a nice pale gold! I steeped this tea within the steeping instructions on the package – 185 for 2 minutes.
TASTE: Piping hot, this tea is more mango in taste, but left to cool a few minutes, the pear pops out. Balanced with the fruityness is the Bai Mu Dan (or Pai Mu Tan whatever). The white tea base here is okay and slightly flat.
Sweetened, the fruit flavors become juicy – with the mango mostly doing the work with a slight pear buzz. When the tea cools, the pear is very strong – even providing some fleshyness to the tea. The flat white base is more covered up by the pear and sweetness.
ICED: Mango Pear Deluxe prepared iced comes out more well rounded. I might of added too much lemon slices here, but I first taste lemon, with the white tea as very light background, but with a really nice aftertaste of mango and pear.
COMMENTS: This tea is decent – the combination of mango and pear is lovely! However, I’ve had better, juicier and more fragrant Bai Mu Dan bases for white tea blends – if Mango Pear Deluxe had a fresher base, it would be a killer tea! I keep thinking, “this could be better.” Very similar to their Strawberry Starfruit white blend flat base. I think I’m just spoiled, honestly.
Overall, it’s a good tea if you are new to white tea blends or want a mango or pear blend.
