Lately, the Seattle area has been horrid with all the smoke, which makes tea tasting difficult. It is not too smokey today, so I jumped on serious tea drinking. Today’s tea is Paromi Matcha with turmeric, ginger & cinnamon.
The ingredients are simple – organic matcha (from Kyushu, Japan), organic turmeric, organic ginger, and organic cinnamon.
I made Paromi Matcha with almond milk – this matcha commands to be in a latte. I used 1 teaspoon (worked out to 3 grams) in around 8oz of milk. The second ingredient is turmeric and the colour of the matcha is not altered too much.
Tasting of Paromi Matcha with Turmeric, Ginger & Cinnamon
Paromi Matcha is smooth, sweeter leaning matcha with a gentle buttery grassy taste. Cinnamon and ginger are the prominent flavors, with a hint of pepper from the turmeric. I’d say it is a low to medium chai spice level. Without a sweetener, this Paromi Matcha blend is not bitter at all, though that might change without milk. A touch of sweetener is even better. The next level is adding vanilla protein powder, which makes it a lovely creamy chai.
In previous sessions with this matcha blend, I did not notice any grit from the spices, likely it was hidden with protein powder. On its own, Paromi Matcha has some spice grit texture but adds pops of spice.
I am quite impressed with Paromi Matcha with turmeric, ginger & cinnamon. Lately, Flavored matcha is hard to come by, and a lot of it is natural/artificial flavors or contains sugar. This matcha is just blended with spices, I can add my own sweetener, and control the flavor intensity. To me, perfection would be if the blend has cardamon, but I can add it on the side.
At this time, Paromi has the flavor I just drank, but also Vanilla and Cocoa. Paromi also carries loose leaf and sachet tea and herbal blends.
