Purple Peach is a white bai mu dan (aka white peony) tea with blue mallow flowers and natural peach flavoring. This tea blend is from Steep City Teas, US based tea seller.
I do tend to use lots of blues and teals with Oolong Owl, but not so secret with my friends and loved ones, I love the colour purple. I buy so many purple knicknacks and jewelry. I have so much purple yarn! While making my last Steep City Teas order, I already had a white peach tea blend and but I saw Purple Peach white tea as was “Oooh, purple. Buy!” Sigh. Either way, I’ve have many great teas from Steep City Teas, I knew I’d be getting a good tea.
Dry Leaf
Purple Peach white tea features a nice, big leafy bai mu dan that has a strong floral scent. I love the gentle spattering of blue mallow flowers, this variety more on the purple side, whereas other teas I’ve seen that use blue mallow are often more blue.
Steeping Instructions
I followed the steeping instructions on the package, so I used 175F water and steeped my tea for 2 minutes. While steeping, my favorite purple amigurumi Boomy and Tea Owl decided to help!
The result was a light cream yellow tea with a soft floral scent with loads of fruity peach.
Tasting of Steep City Teas’ Purple Peach White Tea
Purple Peach white tea sips in light, slowly developing flavor through the sip. The white peony base here is fantastic – very fresh, crisp, hint of floral fruity and naturally sweet. End of sip, the peach flavor sets in and disappears when the sip finishes. To elaborate on the peach flavor, I find Purple Peach has more of a white peach flavor that is on the natural side without any powdery dry taste. Purple Peach white tea has no bitter, grassy, tart or dry notes. Just clean, crisp, delicate, floral fruity white tea.
Iced: Purple Peach white tea is quite refreshing! I added just a touch of light agave to bring out the peach flavor. The tea is very juicy, light with a hint of peach and floral. Yum, I prefer this tea iced and would make it again and again!
Tea-Hating Husband review: Smells really good – fruity and fresh. Tastes like tea though.
Comments
Overall, Steep City Teas’ Purple Peach white tea has a nice and flavorful white peony/bai mu dan white tea base that is lightly enhanced with white peach flavor. This blend makes a great spring or summer tea. I found this peach blend one of the better white peach teas I’ve had so far! This would be perfect for someone who enjoys white tea with a twist of flavor!
I’d love to make an entire pitcher of Purple Peach for a picnic, served with fruit slices, white chocolate and tea sandwiches (I’m thinking ones with shrimp, crab and cream cheese – something creamy and light).
Hmmm, out of Steep City Teas white tea selection, I would snag Coconut Grove and Ginger Zinger first, but that’s personal taste. Steep City Teas‘ white teas cost a bit more than their other teas, but note you get 2oz of tea – which evens out in price since white tea is on the light side.
Bonus: Boomy wanted to show off my purple cast iron tea pot!
