Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea is a Assam Tippy Golden Flower Orange Pekoe black tea blend with irish cream flavor, ibarra chocolate, cinnamon chips, ginger and cloves. This festive tea is from Simple Loose Leaf, online US tea seller.
Mmmm, gingerbread! This Christmas will be a busy time for me! I am ready to get my baking on with family-secret-recipe butter tarts and piles of cookies and fudge. I also do a gingerbread house kit every year! The Tea Owls and I are very excited to review some holiday teas!
Dry Leaf
Upon opening the bag, I got blasted with ginger! So much ginger! I was coughing and the Tea Owls were hooting angrily. Once the spicy dust died down, I was able to scoop out some tea. Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday tea has a chai-like appearance with long black tea leaves mixed with twiggy items.
Steeping Instructions
Simple Loose Leaf‘s black and chai steeping instructions are 1 teaspoon or 2.3grams of tea steeped in 8oz of 212F/100C water for 3 to 5 minutes. Oolong Owl taste testers (a feathery bunch) approved of the flavor of steeped Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday tea at 4 minutes.
Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday tea smells mouth watering creamy with lots of gingery spice. The brew is a deep woodsy brown reminding me of light coffee.
Tasting of Simple Loose Leaf’s Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea
Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea sips in deliciously creamy, like a thin icing on a cookie. The orange pekoe briskness pops mid sip and nicely compliments the blend. Ginger and cinnamon are the main spices tasted, with a hint of clove. The spice flavor here is quite strong, I’d say a moderate to high level of spice without being firey. Overall, Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea tastes like when you had a little too much wine and forgot to add sugar when making gingerbread cookies.
Sweetened: This tastes like a gingerbread cookie! Now only if I could dip my tea into milk… wait a minute…
Milk and Sugar: Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea is exceptional with milk and sugar, with a little heavy on the sugar for good measure. Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea sips in as a gingerbread spiced milk. What would make this tea even better would be some whipped cream with a light dusting of cinnamon and a speculoos cookie on the side!
Comments
Love spicy gingerbread cookies? Are you a chai drinker looking for something festive or different? Simple Loose Leaf‘s Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday Tea is a tasty holiday treat! I don’t need to go out for a gingerbread latte at a coffee shop as this tea does it better!
Simple Loose Leaf sells tea by the ounce, sample or in custom Tea of the Month plans. I selected Santa’s Gingerbread Holiday as my tea to be delivered in December, which was really nice timing and would make a great gift.
Bonus: Now that the Tea Owls are wired up on gingerbread tea, they began attacking my gingerbread house kit! (>.<);;;
