Black Jasmine Cream from New Mexico Tea Company – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Black Jasmine Cream  is a black and green tea blend with jasmine flowers and vanilla flavoring. This tea is from New Mexico Tea Company. Black Jasmine! I’ve noticed once in awhile people asking around Steepster for Jasmine Black teas. It’s a tea combination that seems uncommon to find. The first black jasmine I’ve tried was Jasmine Black Pearls from DAVIDsTea, which was really good. New Mexico Tea Company is another place to find a Black Jasmine tea, which I managed to get my Owl claws on it! Dry Leaf Black Jasmine Cream smells like a jasmine lovers dream! Lots of… Continue reading, hoot!

Lemon Rose White tea from Whittard of Chelsea

Lemon Rose White tea features Silver Tips White tea, Green Tea, Peony Petals, and Lemongrass. This tea is from Whittard of Chelsea. From what I can tell, I only see Lemon and Rose White tea listed on the UK side of the site and not the US side. Actually, all the interesting blends are on the UK shop side – I hope they bring those teas to their US shop! I always have a lemon green or white tea on hand – they make great iced teas! I also enjoy a lemon tea when I’m sick – I can doctor… Continue reading, hoot!

Hand Picked Early Spring Tieguanyin from Verdant Tea – Tea Review

Hand Picked Early Spring Tieguanyin is an oolong from Verdant Tea. This batch was picked on April 12, 2013. This tea is hand in the mountains near Daping, China. However, this particular batch is hand picked by us at Oolong Owls, as I accidentally spilled the pouch of tea on the floor. Sigh. By the way, tieguanyin is painful to step on. I preordered this tea and received it sometime in May – talk about fresh! However, mass tea backlog here at Oolong Owl got it shuffled to the back. Thankfully, as I write this, Hand Picked Early Spring Tieguanyin… Continue reading, hoot!

Jasmine Black Pearls from DAVIDsTEA – Tea Review

Jasmine Black Pearls is an organic black tea offering from DAVIDsTEA. This tea is listed in the Web Specials at DAVIDsTEA‘s online store – with that said, if you want this tea you should act quickly!! I do like my floral teas, but most often floral is present in white, green and oolong teas rather than blacks. I was doing a tea order with a friend and he spotted Jasmine Black Pearls. I totally didn’t notice this tea when browsing around DAVIDsTEA. I don’t drink much unflavored blacks and own some regular black pearls from another tea company. My eyes just skimmed past assuming its… Continue reading, hoot!

Magnolia Oolong from Upton Tea Imports – Tea Review

Magnolia Blossom Oolong is a floral scented oolong from Upton Tea Imports. Life has been weird lately. My husband adopted a turtle. We unexpectedly bought a new fridge and deepfreeze on a trip to the hardware store to build a pond for Turtimer. The kitchen was in disarray as said new fridge doesn’t fit where the old one was (and barely got into the house). All the moving around of the kitchen and surrounding areas to get the fridge into the house made me move my tea stuff out of the way, so I’m disorganized. The bonus is I have a… Continue reading, hoot!

Eight Treasures Yabao from Verdant Tea – Tea Review

Eight Treasures Yabao is a blend of yunnan green jasmine, silver buds yabao pu’er, goji berry, marigold, vanilla bean, honeysuckle, rose and elderberry. This unique tea is from Verdant Tea. This blend caught my eye last year, but I didn’t jump on it, then it eventually went out of stock. When Verdant Tea restocked this tea for the season, it prompt me to do my first order with them. I think what interested me was the combination of a silver bud yabao pu’er with floral and goji.   Dry Leaf: The smell of Eight Treasures Yabao is unexpected! It smells like a musky mountain spice.… Continue reading, hoot!

Pomegranate Magnolia White Tea from Upton Tea Imports – Tea Review

Pomegranate Magnolia White Tea is a unique blend from Upton Tea Imports, an online tea seller. This tea is from my first Upton Tea Imports order! I love that all their teas come in inexpensive sample sizes, so I can try a bunch of teas before committing to buy a large size. You can also have your name printed out on these – I should of had “Oolong Owl” printed on everything. Hoot. So, why this tea? Well, I do love pomegranates and floral teas. I have a pomegranate tree in my backyard and it is exploding in flowers. Oh man, I’m going to have even… Continue reading, hoot!

Bao Zhong from The Persimmon Tree – Tea Review

Bao Zhong is a twisted pouchong oolong tea from The Persimmon Tree. Mmmm, Bao Zhong, I love this oolong! It is also used often as a base in all my favorite oolong blends that feature creamy or fruity flavors. Oh yeah! I had to give The Persimmon Tree‘s Bao Zhong a try! DRY LEAF: Mmm, delicious smelling dry leaf! It smells sweet, buttery and a little floral. Nice big leaves too! STEEPED: I steeped Bao Zhong as per instructions on the tin – 190F for 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, I had a golden yellow/green cup of tea that smells buttery! TASTE: A very delicate tea! Bao Zhong has… Continue reading, hoot!

Jasmine Blueberry from Art of Tea – Tea Review

Jasmine Blueberry is a floral and fruity green tea blend from Art of Tea. DRY LEAF: Interestingly, the dry leaf smells mostly like blueberries! Just a smidgen of jasmine scent. The dry leaf consists of tightly spun dark green tea accented with dime sized blueberries, with the odd jasmine bud. STEEPED: I followed the steeping instructions of 185F for 5 minutes. Geeze, I haven’t steeped a tea for this long for awhile. While I wait 5 minutes, I grabbed a jellyfish to share my tea with. In the end, I was left with a brown gold cup of tea, that smells interestingly… Continue reading, hoot!

Yunnan White Jasmine from Verdant Tea – Tea Review

Yunnan White Jasmine is a jasmine silver needle white tea from Verdant Tea. This tea came as a sample with my last Verdant Tea order. I almost ordered this one! It was in my cart, but I was in one of those annoying “I need to order more to hit free shipping, but I’m already spending too much” problems, so I dropped it and requested it as my free sample. DRY LEAF: When I snipped open my sample package – holy moly! It was a blast of jasmine! Really good jasmine! Can I wear this as perfume? The leaves are a… Continue reading, hoot!
