2010 Hai Lang Hao Ripe Pu’er from Yunnan Sourcing – Tea Review

Today’s tea review is a ripe pu’er from Yunnan Sourcing! 2010 Hai Lang Hao “As You Like” Ripe Pu’er! This 357 gram cake is available on Yunnan Sourcing.us and Yunnan Sourcing.com. This particular ripe pu’er is low to medium fermented that is a blend of various years of Menghai material. I purchased this cake with a Yunnan Sourcing.us ripe pu’er order I did back in September 2014. I’m not sure what attracted me to this cake – the name is cute and the promise of future aging was interesting. An interesting note, I paid $24 for this cake, now it’s $38! Teal “Pu’er… Continue reading, hoot!

May White2tea Club

I’ve been enjoying the White2tea Club with being able to explore pu’er, blacks and oolongs. I am excited for this month as the teas are a decade-aged ripe pu’er and a spring 2015 black, with the black tea building a comparison upon a previous month’s Yunnan black. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to review the black, so let’s sample the pu’er, the White2Tea Club only tea! Tasting of May White2Tea Club’s 2003 Xiaguan Crane Mark Ripe Pu’er 2003 Xiaguan Crane Mark ripe is a 100 gram tuo and a round bird nest shape. It was easy to break off pieces. For steeping instructions, I… Continue reading, hoot!

2004 Denong Ripe Pu’er from Bana Tea Company – Tea Review

I purchased 2004 Denong Ripe Pu’er from Bana Tea Company back at the last Los Angeles International Tea Festival and have been drinking it since without telling anyone! All the pu’er samples I tried were really good but I got this particular ripe pu’er for interesting notes as well as it was popular and the last one. Haha! Dry Leaf 2004 Denong Ripe Pu’er ss presented in broken cake pieces as flat chunks. The pu’er is dark in colour and weighs light too. Steeping Instructions I need to switch it up as I usually use a gaiwan from Oolong Owl, so I used my ripe pu’er yixing… Continue reading, hoot!

2011 Braided Sheng Pu’er – Tea Review

I was cruising Aliexpress looking for trouble and I found this sweet looking raw pu’er cake! This pu’er is a 2011 Sheng/raw with the leaf that has been twisted or braided and then pressed into cakes! How cool is that? I haven’t seen this style of pu’er cake before and could only find one other on Aliexpress. It was later pointed out there is also a hand braided pu’er at Yunnan Sourcing. I went with the Aliexpress cake as it was $16, which is pretty good for 357g size! More pics! Dry Leaf The twists of grey and greens leaf breaks off easily… Continue reading, hoot!

Jingmai Sheng Puer Spring 2013 from Wymm Tea

I recently received a sweet sample pack from Wymm tea, a new online tea seller. Awesomely, Wymm Tea is also from Vancouver! Man I really to do a trip home as the tea scene in Vancouver must be killer! Anyways, Wymm Tea has a gorgeous website with plenty of information on their teas, good looking pu’er and pretty packaging! I decided to try their Jingmai, a raw/sheng from ancient tea trees, pressed Spring 2013. I’ve been noticing that I tend to really like raw Jing Mai pu’ers. Here is the sample packing from Wymm Tea – With samples inside wrapped in stamped… Continue reading, hoot!

Sunny Fruits Puer from Lupicia – Tea Review

I tend to buy puer blends, just for the hell of it. They are so uncommon, but puer is getting more attention these days so I see more blends available. Of course, Lupicia has some really nice blends, it is hard to resist a puer blend from them! Sunny Fruits Puer is a tea blend (puer black tea as stated on the ingredients list) with dried mango, dried papaya, and safflower. Dry leaf Sunny Fruits Puer smells super fruity! It has a tangy mango scent, with the dark tea leaves mixed with mango chunks and reddy orange petals. I could smell… Continue reading, hoot!
