Happy Halloween Tea Peeps!
I love Halloween, mostly because of all the spooky stuff, candy and my birthday being a week away. The Tea Owls are dressed for trick or treating. However, I think they want tea treats. I guess I could give them individually packaged tea bags that they’ll hate So, what to give to a Tea Owl?
Tea Candy!
At my local Asian grocery store (99 Ranch Market) I found a small line of Tea Candy under the brand “Bali’s Best”. I had to get all the flavors for the Tea Owls in order to prevent a violent trick or treat riot.
Back of the package – all packages have the same side description.
Each bag has 42 individually packaged hard Tea Candies. I paid $1.99 a bag. It appears that you can purchase these Tea Candies on Amazon in single packs or together in a 3 pack! (affiliate link)
Unwrapped Tea Candy!
Classic Iced Tea Candy – Let’s start with the basic flavored tea candy. The Classic Iced Tea Candy appeared to be the popular one in the store as this was the only bag left! The tea candy tastes like black iced tea with lots of sugar, so similar to a southern iced tea but in hard candy form. I can even taste the briskness of the tea in the candy! I’d also say the color on this one is pretty accurate to tea.
Citrus Green Tea Candy – First impression of this tea candy was not great as the colour of this candy is wayyy off! It is supposed to be a green tea candy but looks blacker than the black tea candy as it is almost opaque black. The flavor of the Citrus Green Tea Candy tastes like a light citrus mostly with some mystery sweet tea background. It doesn’t taste like green tea and more so tastes like candy orange added to the Iced Tea flavor. I’d say you can pass on this one or the Iced tea one if you wanted a black tea candy.
Green Tea Latte Candy – This flavor is the one I was most excited about as I love matcha flavored things. The color of the tea candy is a dark green. As expected, this candy is really good – it’s condensed milk and matcha flavored. If you love milky candy or matcha lattes you’ll love this hard candy! I could see myself buying more of this one, yum!
In the end, the Tea Owls have lots of candy for Halloween! That should keep them nice and hyper for a few weeks.
I think the Tea Owl going as a overwrapped tea package from China wins this tea for best costume! He gets some extra candy!
Second place – a bag of pu’er mini tuochas costume!
