I quite like the tall skinny profile of the Kitchenables Ceylon Glass Teapot. It looks modern and a bit different than the typical glass teapot.

Pros

Tight fitting parts – The lid, filter, and teapot snap on and off with ease. There is no rattling around bits or lids flying off.

Good pour – The Kitchenables Ceylon Glass Teapot pours tight. I experienced no drips or mess. Other large glass teapots I have had weight issues when full as they become unwieldy shakey to deal with. The Kitchenables Ceylon pot has a well-balanced handle and tall design, making it not hard to pour when maxed out. The handle also stays cool to the touch.

Fine mesh tea filter – I tried this pot with a herbal and had no bits escape. You can steep your dustiest tea and be fine. The filter also is most of the teapot, so you can half fill it and get enough leaf expansion.

Logo – The printing on the teapot is functional – it tells you the volume, 1200ml! I literally have a spreadsheet listing all my teapots which I refer to exclusively to figure out their sizes so I don’t have to measure every time (I have too many teapots to remember). Knowing the size also helps me know how much tea to use. You also don’t need to keep the box or instructions around.

Dishwasher safe – Being able to dishwasher a teapot is a rare quality.

Cons

Lid and Filter Design – You cannot have the lid on without the filter in place. The lid just does not fit. That said, if you remove the leaves to stop the tea infusion, what you have is a big tea pitcher. Thankfully, the Kitchenables Ceylon Glass Teapot pours great with or without the lid.

Other Considerations

Filter only steeping – The Kitchenables Ceylon Glass Teapot is not the glass teapot to show off the unfurling of the leaves. There is no filter stopping the leaves from getting into your cup unless the filter is in place.

Glass – Yes I say this every time with glass pots. Be warned these teapots have not good heat retention (especially this one since the lid only works with the filter). I suggest to steep delicate teas like green teas which prefer a low temperature. You run the risk with hotter teas not getting that full oomph infusion.  This teapot is stovetop safe so there’s no fear in running a hot plate with it to ensure a good infusion and keeping your tea hot. With glass, you run the risk of breakage and these pots are hot to the touch on the body. Do not have this teapot around grabby kids.

Comments

The Kitchenables Ceylon Glass Teapot is a well-designed teapot with the intention to steep with a filter. It is easy to pour for a big glass teapot, so it’s a good match if you’ve had problems with other pots.
