Oh hoots, I don’t like green tea but I drink a round of fresh greens out of the White2tea Club. I prefer high-energy teas and green teas have too much of a calming effect for me. In this White2tea Club box are Cloud Mist Green and Coal Mt. Green, the latter being a club exclusive. White2tea has a time window to order fresh green teas, so you’ll have to wait until next year to get their greens.
Brewing Instructions: I’m going more casual (and making this painless as possible) with this tea so a hybrid lazy style it is. As per the handout, I’m just gonna cover the bottom of my brewer and steep with 85c. Covering the bottom of my 240ml lazy style brewer worked out to 3 grams of tea. I drank a cup or two, then topped up with more hot water.
White2tea’s 2022 Cloud Mist Green
The leaves smell like hazelnuts and roasted grass.
The initial flavor is sweet buttered spinach and watercress, all with a thick starchy broth that can stop bullets. Cloud Mist Green’s aftertaste peaks a sweet raw white corn, with a lingering aftertaste of mowed sweet grass. As the green tea steeps, it goes nuttier with hazelnut flesh, with the vegetal grass starting to stew and bitter. Cloud Mist also starts to add a drying sensation on the tip of my tongue.
White2tea Club Exclusive 2022 Coal Mt Green
This tea smells more marine and roasted nuts to me.
Both teas are fuzzy but this one is next level – I can see it in my cup and I can feel this fuzzy as I drink it.
Coal Mt Green tea is softly marine minerals and salt with blanched almonds and a very soft red lettuce flavor. This fresh green is subtle and soft, but the texture is hairy AF and I can feel the fuzz in my throat and coughed the first sip. As it steeps, it gets more pan-toasted almonds and boiled snap peas in taste.
I’m feeling sleepy and I want a line of matcha to slap me awake happy state.
Comments
Both teas are thick in broth texture and packed with green tea energy. As usual, I’m no green tea drinker so take my notes with a grain of salt. Cloud Mist Green isn’t bad, I could drink it, though I preferred last year’s tea more as the flavor clicked with me. Coal Mt Green I didn’t like – it was too green tea for me, so likely it is excellent green tea hahah!
