Atlas Tea Club feat. Nepal Teas

Interested in expanding your tea experience by trying teas from all around the world? Looking for a gift for a tea lover that has it all? I honestly wished I thought of this tea club – every month Atlas Tea Club sends you tea grown from a different country. No ordering from many different tea vendors from around the world, nor waiting for long international shipping (don’t get me started how bad international shipping has been lately), as Atlas Tea Club is based in the US.

As well as trying teas from around the world, Atlas Tea Club lets you set your preferences for caffeinated or herbals, green or black or mix, or 1 or 2 teas a shipment. Each packet of loose leaf tea is around 20-28 grams.

Today, I have the Nepal Box which contains Kumari Gold and White Prakash.

Also included is information about Nepal teas and some handy paper filters.

Kumari Gold from Nepal – Atlas Tea Club

The leaves are fuzzy and gold-tipped, smelling like Ovaltine malted milk.

I actually followed directions for once, going 5 grams of leaves in a 200ml teapot for 5 minutes. The steeped leaves smell like blackberries and brews up a dark amber.

Kumari Gold is rich and malty, with honey, golden raisins, buttery caramel, with a bittersweet finish. The aftertaste is a touch of roses, all with a buttery texture. A resteep of leaves tasted less malty and much more fruity and floral.

White Prakash from Nepal – Atlas Tea Club

White Prakash has a honey wheat scent coming off the fuzzy leaves.

While the tea was steeping, it gave off a bouquet of flowers scent. I was more generous with the water temperature, going 200F here for 4 minutes – I like my white teas in very hot or boiling water.

White Prakash tastes like just underripe green grapes, sipping in with a buttery texture. The aftertaste blooms with a strong buttercup and carnations floral. As I drink, the floral flavor layers heavier, coating my mouth with a more flowery aftertaste.

Comments

There is lots of tea discovery with the Atlas Tea Club. I was immediately asking them if they were going to do Vietnam or Laos! Previous boxes have been South Korea and Indonesia. This tea club has a lot of potentials to expand one’s tea knowledge and find new favorite teas!
