Drinking ALL of my Shou Puer at Once

Sometimes I look at my puer stash and feel overwhelmed with what to choose to drink. Why not drink it all? Today I take a leaf/chunk of each of my shou puer and drink it! My shou pumidor, yet again, is full and teas fall out when I open the door.  I wonder if my shou blend will just taste like generic shou since this tea type has a smaller range of flavor. But same time, I got quite an assortment of shou. I got a Japanese, 1989 to 1990s, as well as younger shou puer. I got some expensive… Continue reading, hoot!

Will it Gongfu? Tea Advent Calendar

Every year my frustration with Tea Advent Calendars grows. There are none with my tastes and every vendor I talk to says they don’t want to do it. Realistically, it is hard to come up with 24 teas, make attractive packaging, and make it affordable. That is why Advent Calendars are done by bigger tea companies. As a tea blogger, I get a lot of tea sent to me by companies and yet another Tea Advent Calendar arrived. I reached for the Day 1 tea on December 1st, and to my disappointment, it was a measly 3 grams of trail… Continue reading, hoot!

Drinking ALL My White Teas at Once

Ever looked at your tea stash and didn’t know what to drink? Uninspired with your tea collection? Well, one piece of advice I have said to others is to “Take a leaf from each of your teas and drink it!” Today, I will be following my advice and drinking ALL* my white teas! Purple Tea Owl and I went through all my tins, white tea pumidor, and sample buckets to pluck a single leaf or pinch off a piece of white tea cake then placed it in a tin. Why white teas, Oolong Owl, when you are in fact the… Continue reading, hoot!

Will It Gongfu? The Last Hoot

This is it. THE LAST HOOT. In the deep bowels of tea drunk, I thought up the unholiest blend. White2tea’s 2016 Last Thoughts Sheng Puer First We Feast / Heatonist’s The Last Dab Reduxx Pepper X and Chocolate Pepper X Reduxx Both of THE LASTS must be gongfu’d into THE LAST HOOT! If you aren’t familiar with White2Tea’s Last Thoughts, it is a high-end sheng puer currently priced at $469 per 357gram cake. I like this tea for real special occasions and tea drunk tomfoolery, though I am more than happy with cheaper tea drunkard teas like 2016 We Go High.… Continue reading, hoot!

Daintree Tea and Tim Tam Slams

Austrailian Tea Special! I’ve tried Daintree Tea before, but it was fairly old loose leaf not stored well. My husband’s coworker recently came back from Australia and I was given a Wallaby and a sample box of Daintree tea bags. Around the same time, I got a package from Influenster (they send free products for review, I mostly signed up for makeup swag) to review some unexpected random crap like a tin of corn, tub of margarine, fried jalapenos, and a package of Tim Tams. I’ve heard about Tim Tams as being an Aussie fav treat. I recently saw Tim Tams at… Continue reading, hoot!

Will it Gongfu? Red Rose Canada Day Edition

Red Rose is a tea I drank as a kid growing up in Vancouver Canada. Majority of restaurants and coffee shops in Canada carry Red Rose. Likely many homes have a box of it in the cupboard, along with Canadian Tetley tea. Interestingly, and I have wrote about this before, Canadian boxed tea is prized in the US as it tastes better than the ones made for US drinkers. It appears the Canadian Red Rose tea in particular is a straight Orange Pekoe, vs the weaker blend that the US gets. It actually took me visiting four shops in Vancouver to find Red… Continue reading, hoot!

Will it Gongfu? Instant Puer Tea Bags

Back by popular demand… W I L L   I T   G O N G F U ! The first Will It Gongfu? Oolong Edition was just an April Fools Joke, but many of you requested it to be a regular thing. Likely as you all just want me to drink more gross things. Funny enough, while I was at a tea shop in Vancouver, other patrons were explaining gongfu cha to some new tea people. They said, “Gongfu is masterful brewing… it will make any bad tea taste good.” Well I got some questionable tea to put to the test. Will… Continue reading, hoot!

Will it Gongfu? Oolong Edition

We must ask the age old question…. Will it Gongfu? I’m sure it has been burning a hole in your gaiwan on whether non-gongfu typical teas will gongfu. There is quite a lot of things to cover, so just oolong for today. Will it Gongfu? Flavored Oolong I will be using Banana Oolong from 52 Teas. I admit, this tea is old and I need to drink it before it goes funky. However, this is a good blend that has things I like to see in a flavored tea – mostly tea (not trail mix), true to flavor, and does not have… Continue reading, hoot!
