Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha – Strawberry and Peanut Butter – from 52 Teas

It’s time to review more Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha Teas! 52 Teas / Zoomdweebies‘ Strawberry Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha and Peanut Butter Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha! I’ve previously reviewed S’mores Genmaicha and I also own the regular Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha. Both are excellent teas. I was happy to see 52 Teas came out with Strawberry Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha and Peanut Butter Marshmallow Treat Genmaicha. I make some killer rice crispy treats. My secret is extra marshmallows, a generous splash of homemade vanilla extract (made with brandy) or sometimes a whole vanilla bean pod scraped in. My favorite variation of rice crispy treats is to add caramel squares or… Continue reading, hoot!

Moonlight White from Jingmai Raw Pu’er from Bana Tea Company – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Moonlight White from Jingmai raw pu’er is a 2012 loose leaf raw pu’er. This tea is sold by Bana Tea Company, online pu’er seller located in California. I had the pleasure of sampling this tea at the 2013 Los Angeles Tea Festival. I had a cup of Moonlight White from Jingmai raw pu’er and thought about it throughout the entire time I was at the festival. I tried so many teas at the festival and had many bathroom trips. Before I left, I felt this tea was the gem of the tea festival and I had to buy it! As a side note… Continue reading, hoot!

Purple Peach White tea from Steep City Teas – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Purple Peach is a white bai mu dan (aka white peony) tea with blue mallow flowers and natural peach flavoring. This tea blend is from Steep City Teas, US based tea seller. I do tend to use lots of blues and teals with Oolong Owl, but not so secret with my friends and loved ones, I love the colour purple. I buy so many purple knicknacks and jewelry. I have so much purple yarn! While making my last Steep City Teas order, I already had a white peach tea blend and but I saw Purple Peach white tea as was “Oooh, purple. Buy!”… Continue reading, hoot!

Autumn 2014 Sheng Yiwu Mountain Pu’er from Misty Peak Teas – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Autumn 2014 Sheng Yiwu Mountain Pu’er is a new pu’er from Misty Peak Teas. This stone pressed pu’er was picked from 200 year old+ trees and hand processed on Jan 2014. Time flies when you’re having fun with tea! A year already? It seems like it wasn’t too long ago when I enjoyed Misty Peak Teas‘s 2012 Autumn and 2013 Spring pu’er. I’m curious on how this Autumn 2014 Sheng Yiwu Mountain Pu’er stacks up with the amazing cherry blossom, apricot deliciousness of Misty Peak Teas‘s 2012 Autumn. Dry Leaf Autumn 2014 Sheng Yiwu Mountain Pu’er is a stone pressed loose tangle of dark leaves… Continue reading, hoot!

March Simple Loose Leaf Selection Tea Club – Oolong Owl tea review

Today I’ll be unboxing the Simple Loose Leaf Selection Tea Club that I received for March! (PSSSST! I got a coupon code at the end of this post!) How the Simple Loose Leaf Section plan works is each month you can choose from a selection of 5 teas. You also get to choose a 6 gram bonus sample from next month (with that, a preview of the offerings for the next month). Within that 5 teas, they aim to have a green, black, oolong or pu’er and a flavored blend, so you got a lot of variety to choose from. What is… Continue reading, hoot!

Lapsang Souchong from The Persimmon Tree – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Lapsang Souchong is an organic tea smoked over pine needles. This unique tasting black tea is sold by The Persimmon Tree, a California online tea seller. Alright Tea Peeps, I’ve never had a straight up Lapsang Souchong before. So far I’ve had Lapsang Souchong buried in campfire smokey tea blends. Even in blends, I quickly deduct that crazy smokey flavor as a Lapsang Souchong. I felt it was time for me to try Lapsang Souchong for the first time straight up, especially since I got a tea blend with Lapsang Souchong I’m planning to review later this week. Dry Leaf Opening the tin… Continue reading, hoot!

Shan First Flush Green Tea from Shan Valley – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Shan First Flush Green tea is a Myanmar grown first harvest green. This tea is sold by Shan Valley, online seller of Northern Myanmar (Burma) teas. This tea is a reserve tea that is available for a limited time. Shan Valley sent me four teas to review, but today I’ll be doing a thorough review of Shan First Flush Green tea, my hands down favorite of the four. The first noticeable quality about Shan First Flush Green tea is the price – 6oz for $8 for a first flush green is a pretty good price! By the way, Shan First Flush Green tea comes in both loose… Continue reading, hoot!

Mango Spiced Chai Tea from Hula Girl – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Mango Spiced Chai Tea is a black tea chai mix sold by Hula Girl. I bought this tea mix from Hilo Hattie when I was in Hawaii, however it looks like you can buy from Hula Girl The Store online, or from Amazon.com. Trip to Hawaii not required! I got this out of desperation as early into my tours of Hawaii, I didn’t see any loose leaf tea, just the bagged stuff. I thought the promise of mango flavor sounded really neat for a chai. I used to drink, I think Tazo Chai Concentrate mix, but moved onto loose leaf chai… Continue reading, hoot!

Shan Lin Xi High Mountain Concubine Oolong from Eco-cha – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Shan Lin Xi High Mountain Concubine Oolong is a northern Taiwan produced oolong sold by Eco-cha, online seller of Taiwan teas. Eco-Cha has a nice write up about this tea, but in sum, Shan Lin Xi High Mountain Concubine Oolong is similar to an Oriental Beauty, but a different oolong variety and leaf rolling method. Similar to Oriental Beauty oolongs, this tea is munched on by specific bugs to encourage new growth, thus a big flavor change. With that said, this type of tea has not been treated with pesticides, thus more work to make as well as in many cases, a… Continue reading, hoot!

With my recent cruise to Hawaii, I was able to snag the entire Lupicia Hawaii Original Blends collection at Lupicia Honolulu. The Lupicia Hawaii Original Tea Blends gift boxes are quite lovely – the tins are super cute and beautifully packaged! Each tin has 20 grams of tea, just enough to sample each blend, as well as being a great size for this tea blogger who owns too much tea yet wants to try more tea. In two gift boxes you get: Hoku – Taiwaniese oolong with pineapple and guava Loke Lani – Black tea with bergamont and passionfruit Lanikai – Black… Continue reading, hoot!
