September 2017 White2Tea Club feat Black, White and TurtleDoves

September 2017’s White2Tea Club came with Auburn Black, Jinngu White tea buds, and three x 8 gram mini cakes of 2017 Turtle Dove. I have reviewed 2017 Turtle Dove already, so we will skip that today and drink the black and white tea. September  2017 White2Tea Club Jinngu White Tea Buds I’m drinking these teas in one sitting today, and I like starting light to dark, so the white tea is first. This white is from Jinngu, Yunnan Province and is only the buds. From my understanding and experience, bud heavy tea packs a punch! Dry leaf and Steeping Method: The… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Farmer Direct Tea Sheng Puer from White2tea

2017 puer is nuts. We got so much selection this year for young sheng, that I’ve been busy drinking it all and getting gut rot. I’ve drunk a good selection of White2Tea’s 2017 line now, so I am starting with what I found is a good mid-range tea. I got 2017 Farmer Direct Tea (FDT) as a bonus sample with purchase. I was a high roller this year and only bought the expensive White2Tea shengs to try, which I slightly regret as FDT turned out to be pretty good. Farmer Direct Tea. I’m sure the name of this tea really… Continue reading, hoot!

August 2017 White2Tea Club feat. Mid 2000s Sheng Puer

The August 2017 White2tea club is another learning experience box. This month contains two mid 2000’s sheng puer to compare storage and compression. The Fangcha is dry stored tightly compressed brick with little information known other than it is smokey. The traditional Bingcha is said to be Yiwu origin, loosely pressed, with less compression and humid storage. Yet another excuse to have some double gaiwan fun, let’s steep! Dry Leaf The fangcha is in a spiffy brick. Flipped over, it has warts! I was warned this brick was a PITA to break, but my folding puer knife got through it… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Turtle Dove White Tea Brick from White2tea

A highly requested review! 2017 Turtle Dove is White2Tea’s newest compressed white tea. It is made from sun-dried, large leaf Yunnan white tea. It is described as being a forgiving white tea and I love white teas that I can beat up. This is also one of the teas of the 2017 Spring line up that has been tested and passed being free of 440 EU pesticides. Let’s steep! Dry Leaf and Steeping Method Breaking a brick of 2017 Turtle Dove White tea brick is scary – be cautious! I’ve had a couple sessions of 2017 Turtle Dove White tea… Continue reading, hoot!

2015 Pretty Girls Shou Puer from White2Tea

I purchased White2Tea’s 2015 Pretty Girls shou puer at launch, and it got lost in the back of my pumidor, along with Brown Sugar and Red Shroom. This puer is one of their most expensive shous, clocking in $39 for 200 grams. I overheard that “Pretty Girls” is some sort of reference that flies right over my west coast head. However, the wrapper art of Pretty Girls has a nice robin on the front. I was inspired to finally give this puer a try as my house is under siege by bird turf war since the spring. As with many… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Natural Redhead Black Tea Cake from White2tea

Woohoo, I finally got my claws on White2tea’s 2017 new teas! As much as you all want to hear about the new puer, or perhaps the new white cake, I will be starting off with the 2017 Natural Redhead Black tea cake. I did a big White2tea sample order and I decided to split half a sample of Natural Redhead with a friend. I haven’t been doing as much black tea over the summer, so I didn’t feel like buying a whole cake like I would have done in the past. Since I was doing a huge sample order that… Continue reading, hoot!

2016 Chocobrick White and Black Tea from White2Tea

For my White2tea order awhile back I purchased the 2016 Chocobricks in White and Black. 100 gram chocolate waffle brick for $15 is a pretty good deal. Let’s dive in! 2016 Chocobrick White Tea 2016 Chocobrick White Tea is a sun dried Yunnan large leaf varietal. White tea always looks great pressed as the leaves look artistic with the mix of fall colours. So far, this is the worst waffle/chocolate/whatever pressing I have dealt with. It is hard to photo, but the indentations are shallow, plus the pressing is quite firm. The tight pressing and big leaf made it difficult… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Big Green Hype Sheng Puer from White2Tea

The July White2tea club tea was a whole 200 gram cake of 2017 Big Green Hype, which is part of their new 2017 Spring teas. Yay, I like previews and samples of brand new teas as it gets me hyped for what is to come! 2017 Big Green Hype features a clean logo on fancy textured paper. Leaf and Steeping Method When Hype arrived, it was overly fragrant and fruity, but also warm and swampy from sweating in bubble wrap during the long ship time. I aired the cake out for a few weeks. Big Green Hype looks pretty good and has… Continue reading, hoot!

June 2017 White2Tea club Gushu Sheng Puer

For a week all I’ve been drinking is instant tea, tea bags, and stash old oolong to get my tea stash down. I haven’t had amazing tea in a week, which feels like ages. This month’s White2Tea club is a 2017 Mengsong gushu raw puer 50 gram cake, a tea club exclusive. Last time we had a little cake it was hella good, so I am looking forward to drinking this tea. Dry Leaf and Steeping Method The 2017 Tea Club Gushu cake weighs 50 grams on the button! Such a cute little cake! The scent is strongly floral and delicious. I went full out… Continue reading, hoot!

2016 Nightlife from White2Tea

White2tea‘s Nightlife is a Yue Guan Bai (aka Moonlight white) Yunnan white tea. Nightlife is apparently a high grade tea, made from a large leaf varietal reserved for sheng puer. I purchased this tea on a whim. Hey, I like Yueguanbai/Moonlight whites, so I had no issues dropping blind on a 200 gram cake from my dealer White2Tea. I purchased it at release and it smelled really strong funky from the journey, so I let it air a bit before tucking it with my other moonlight cakes. Quickly, 2016 Nightlife sold out. At first, I am not sure why they sold… Continue reading, hoot!
