May 2016 White2Tea Club – 6 Black Tea Comparison

For the May 2016 White2Tea club we got 6 different black teas, two of them freshly 2016. The teas are: Little Red, Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Spring 1 (aka Lapsang Souchong), Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Spring 2, Black Buddha, Wild Tree Black, and Black Meizhan. I started off the morning drinking a TanYang black and then in the afternoon I thought, “Hey, I feel like more black tea, why don’t I drink all of these White2Tea club blacks together?” Brillant idea, especially since I got six 60ml gaiwans. I did not think of the consequences… Dry Leaf Little Red has a… Continue reading, hoot!

2016 Fade Sheng Puer from April 2016 White2Tea Club

For April 2016’s White2Tea Club we had a pretty cool offering of a whole pu’er brick! The brand new 2016 Fade Sheng Puer! The 2016 Fade Sheng Puer from 2015 Yiwu huangpian leaves that was pressed in March 2016. Apparently some of this material was in White2Tea’s Poundcake and Last Thoughts, so I’m expecting something sweet tasting! My white2tea monthly tea subscription came the day before I moved to Seattle, excellent timing! What was also handy was the tea filter that was included, which is sold on Teaware.House. Teaware.House Tea Filter I have a pretty good stainless steel tea filter… Continue reading, hoot!

March 2016 White2Tea Club

Let’s transport back a month to review the March 2016 White2Tea Club! The teas included for the month of March: 2011 Aged White Tea Fuding and 2009 Yiwu Raw Puer, 50 gram samples each and both available for purchase. I’d say White2tea was pretty generous this month with the sizes. Both teas are entering middle age, so this is a tasting of teas we can snag now at a decent price as the same tea a bit older is much more money. Both teas would be great for further aging. 2009 Yiwu Raw Puer from the March 2016 White2tea Club… Continue reading, hoot!

February 2016 White2tea club – Tea Review

I know, it is mid March, so I got this tea a month ago. Unfortunately, the February club arrived late, despite the club shipping them early to avoid Lunar New Year. Then I went out of town, got sick and now I’m moving. I will not be 2 months late! For February 2016 we got a pair of 2005 teas – 2005 Aged White Tea Zhenghe and 2005 Teji Tuo Sheng Pu’er, a total of 125 grams of tea. 2005 Teji Tuo Sheng – February 2016 White2tea club I was warned that the 2005 Teji Tuo is super potent. Some people… Continue reading, hoot!

Fresh Shou Pu’er Balls Tasting Experiment

Back in June 2015, the White2tea club included 3 ripe pu’er balls with a challenge of drinking one ripe ball now, and the rest 3 months later. I tasted the first ball with my White2Tea club June 2015 review and then set my calendar to alert me 3 months and 6 months later. As far as I know, you cannot get these ripe pu’er balls unless you were in the White2Tea club back in June, so this is more of a educational tasting. Maybe they are material in another pu’er cake? Anyways, read the tasting I did on the fresh shou… Continue reading, hoot!

January 2016 White2Tea Club featuring 2015 Old Reliable Ripe Pu’er

Starting the new year with a bang, White2tea got a bunch of new shous. However, being in the White2Tea club scored us a whole cake of the new 2015 Old Reliable Ripe Pu’er. Also in this month’s club is a 2008 Shou Mei sample. If you are wondering about the “love letter”, it is a coupon code for Teaware.house! White2Tea’s 2015 Old Reliable Ripe Pu’er 2015 Old Reliable Ripe Pu’er is a 200gram cake. The wrapper is really cool! The cake has a light woodsy scent. I trust White2tea will have this cake smelling good, no funky times. Steeping Instructions I made this shou pu’er… Continue reading, hoot!

December 2015 White2tea club – Tea Review

It’s the best time of the month – White2tea Club time! This month is wintery theme teas. Oolong Owl theme – Crash and burn, just like me on the holidays. The holidays for me finally stopped smoking, emotionally and literally as I managed to set my oven on fire twice making yorkshire pudding, caught sausages on parchment paper on fire with a blow torch (don’t ask), and smoked out the neighbours multiple times with the BBQ, all in less than a week around Christmas! In this month’s box: 2009 Anhua Heicha 200g and 8 gram samples of White2Tea’s new Dahongpao and Rougui!… Continue reading, hoot!

November White2tea Club 2015 Pin – Tea Review

I’ve been with the White2Tea Club monthly subscription tea box thing for a year now. At $30 a month, add up how much of my monies have been funneled into White2Tea for a year, and I’m still signed up as I love this tea club. If I cut myself off I think I’ll get the tea bends or something. November 2015’s White2Tea Club is the lovely 200 gram cake of 2015 Pin Sheng. For a $30 a month price, getting a $49 cake is a great deal for something I would of purchased it eventually. $49 cake is in my price range of… Continue reading, hoot!

Halloween Ripe Pu’er Stuffed Orange

This ripe pu’er stuffed orange came in the White2tea club for October. The orange was added as a bonus. I find orange pu is a fun steep, but I wouldn’t buy more for myself but new pu’er drinkers seem to interested in them. Maybe since the pu’er content is generally not the greatest, pu’er stuff oranges to me is a “try once” novelty tea. Some people do love them and buy them. I have reviewed a raw pu’er orange 2 years ago but not a ripe pu’er one. Pu’er stuffed oranges is generally cheap material but price is a little high due to… Continue reading, hoot!

October White2tea club – Tea Review

Yeah October White2Tea Club time! I got at my monthly tea clubs late since I was out of town for the beginning of the month. This month is an interesting mix of teas – 2006 Gongting Shou 100 gram cake, two 9 gram 2013 Lincang Area sheng orbs, and a ripe pu’er stuffed in a tangerine. I’m going to review the Gongting and Lincang now. I got a number of messages asking me to review the pu’er orange but that’ll be another post. Of the club teas this month, the 2006 Gongting shou 100 gram cake is available for purchase. Club members… Continue reading, hoot!
