Morning Mojo and Bolder Breakfast Puer Black Teas from The Tea Spot

Continuing on from the review from the other week, I have more of The Tea Spot‘s blends – Morning Mojo and Bolder Breakfast! These two teas are quite good and both puer.

Morning Mojo from The Tea Spot

Morning Mojo is a blend of puer, black tea, orange peel, and vanilla flavoring. It smells like an orange creamsicle.

I used 4 grams of tea, 12oz/350ml mug, and steeped it in boiling water for 3.5 minutes.

The flavor is super creamy vanilla. The running theme of Tea Spot’s puer and black tea bases is they give a smooth yet sweet dirty earth and wood note. The orange adds a perk of citrus, but the main quality is the vanilla. Overall a smooth and creamy tea, like a creamsicle pop with a hint of orange, in some earthy dirt.

Morning Mojo wants me to get back into bed and drink a couple of cups before going about my day, it is quite relaxing despite it being a wake me up too.

Bolder Breakfast from The Tea Spot

I was introduced to Bolder Breakfast at the last World Tea Expo. It was a surprise to Tea Spot that I never had Bolder Breakfast before, as this was their very first blend and I’ve been trying their things for years.

I used 4 grams of tea, again with a 12oz/350ml mug, boiling water, and steeped for 4 minutes.

The flavor of Bolder Breakfast shows off more of the puer black tea background, which is a great earthy woody base. The longer infusions let the black shine more by adding a briskness associated with Breakfast teas, but much smoother and earthy due to the puer. This tea blend is smooth and sweet, with a dark chocolate finish. This tea would be awesome as a latte or base for a bubble tea.

After drinking both teas I had the urge to mix Morning Mojo and Bolder Breakfast for a chocolate orange vanilla explosion. The mix tastes vanilla chocolate. The orange is trying to be lost but I get a bit of the taste at the end. I think I prefer each tea on their own than together. Ha, it was worth a try.

Both of The Tea Spot’s Puer blends (as well as Rise and Chai) are impressively good. I tend to hunt down puer blends but often am disappointed as they use a fishy shou base, which is not the case for these teas. If you aren’t into puer, both teas simply have an extra earthy taste, with the added flavoring adding extra comfort food feels.
