With Open Eyes is a Hangzhou Dragon Well flavored with strawberry, ginger and toffee. This tea is from Butiki Teas! Oooh a dragon well green tea blend! You don’t see those too often! Of course, it is a Butiki Teas blend, so it will be good! I do love strawberry and ginger combinations as they remind me of berry ginger ale, one of my favorite soda pop flavors. Sweet Roasted Chestnuts Flavored Black Tea is a Japanese black tea with chestnut flavoring. This tea is a Creha Tea that I purchased from Yunomi.us. I’m sure when we think of Japanese teas we think of green teas. It’s really cool to see a Japanese tea seller like Yunomi.us carry some Japanese blacks teas as well as oolongs. It is really neat to taste the difference of these teas compared to the typical teas that are more commonly from Africa, China or Taiwan. 2012 Qui Yun Wild Arbor Raw Pu’er from Yunnan Sourcing – Tea Review

2012 Qui Yun Wild Arbor Raw Pu’er is a 250 gram cake from YiWu mountain. This tea is from Yunnan Sourcing.com. This raw pu’er is harvested in Autumn from 60 to 80 year old, non sprayed arbor trees. I discovered I really like autumn pu’er. I was having this discussion with another pu’er lover and we figured it might be because I’m born in the fall. Teaware update – August 2013

When I started Oolong Owl early this year I was really a “I rather have tea than tea ware” kind of person. I used basic tea ware like a gravity steeper, variable kettle with a glass mug and white tea cup to show off tea colour. As this blog progressed I’ve been feeling like I need more attractive tea ware to photo with the teas. I’ve also been enjoying serving guests tea in tiny annoying tea cups, MUAHAHAH! Plum Oolong from New Mexico Tea Company – Tea Review

Plum Oolong is a fruit enhanced wuyi oolong blend. This tea is from New Mexico Tea Company. I do love my dark oolongs and I was pleasantly surprised to see a roasty oolong used in a fruit blend. More often I see green oolong blends as the buttery and floral elements make a great base for fruit. However, I love variety! By the way, love the 2oz packaging  of New Mexico Tea Company teas. Yunnan Sourcing Tea order! Pu’er Cakes and an awesome gaiwan!

Usually I just post what I get in the mail on my Oolong Owl Facebook page, however this Yunnan Sourcing.com order was pretty epic. It wasn’t a huge order, but an interesting one. Green Caramel from The Persimmon Tree – Tea Review

Green Caramel is an organic green tea accented with caramel pieces, rooibos, toasted rice and marigold petals. This fun tea blend is from The Persimmon Tree, an online tea seller.  I had ordered this tea as a sample awhile back. Oolong Owl Tea Experiment: The Ice Steeping Method

First of all, this is the first post of OolongOwl.com! I’m happy to of made the move to my own domain and webspace!  Yunomi.us posted an interesting method of steeping tea – Ice Steeping. The idea of this tea steeping method is for the tea leaves to steep away as the ice melts. I do plenty of iced teas (hot tea chilled) and cold steeping (tea steeped in cold water in the fridge) but steeping just with ice is a new idea to me!
