Spring 2013 Drunk on Red Sun Dried Feng Qing Black – Tea Review

DRUNK ON RED! DRUNK ON RED! I’d be lying if I said I bought Spring 2013 Drunk on Red Sun-Dried Feng Qing for the description and not its sweet name. Who would pass up a tea called Drunk On Red? I’d get tea drunk on teal or purple if I could! This tea is a Spring 2013 first flush Feng Qing black tea that has been sun dried, then pressed into 100 gram cakes. There’s a few different years to choose from on Yunnan Sourcing (both yunnansourcing.us and yunnansourcing.com site – if you are in the US I suggest shopping at the… Continue reading, hoot!

06 Bai Lin Congfu Black from Joseph Wesley black tea – Tea Review

With my last Joseph Wesley black tea order I was stuck on what to get. I was purchasing a cup set that came with your choice of tea and choosing a tea was difficult – all their teas sounded awesome! I decided on 06 Bai Lin Congfu for its promise of caramel and cream notes. Creamy teas make me weak in the knees. Let’s check this tea out! Gorgeous sophisticated and modern packing as usual. The black tea is vacuum packed and once the seal is breached it is hard to fit the tea back in unless you drink about 2 or… Continue reading, hoot!

52 Teas Sampling and Kickstarter

I have a couple really good looking flavored tea blends that I’ve been meaning to open and sample. S’mores Chai and Tiramisu Oolong! Very unique teas. 52 Teas have some really neat tea blends that I hope will continue. With that said, there’s a kickstarter going on for the 52 Teas Great Take Over, by the lovely LiberTeas at the SororiTea sisters! Man, I hope this kickstarter gets funded, I want that Maple Cheesecake Tie Kwan Yin! Anyways, the teas I have today aren’t for sale at the moment, though you can wishlist and request them to be reblended, or pledge… Continue reading, hoot!

Whispering Pines Tea’s Golden Orchid Tea – Tea Review

Vanilla is amazing! I buy my beans 1lb at a time and add to things as simple as Rice Crispy squares to make my treats extra special. I make my own vanilla extract out of various liquors, which gives great flavor to my cookies. Vanilla teas are awesome – and a real popular one is Whispering Pines Tea Co’s Golden Orchid tea. I kept hearing so much about it, I snagged an ounce not too long ago to see for myself. Golden Orchid tea is a blend of Dian Hong and Fujian Xiao Zhong Black Tea with Hand Cut Grade A Madagascar Vanilla… Continue reading, hoot!

January White2Tea Club

I savored this month’s White2Tea monthly tea subscription club – all the teas sounded great to me! For the White2Tea club, every month you get teas that are curated by White2tea. These teas are samples from their current line up, previews to new teas to their shop, as well as some private stash and discoveries. The subscription is month to month, cancel any time. So far, all the teas I’ve received has been pretty good – I recently dropped a bunch of cash for a group order, buying more teas that I received in previous months. Good stuff! For the month of… Continue reading, hoot!

Keemun Mao Feng Black tea from What-Cha – Tea Review

I am still on the quest for a good Keemun! Hoot! Let’s sample some keemun from What-Cha. What-Cha, at this time, has a couple different keemuns to choose from. Today, I’ll be tasting Keemun Mao Feng Black tea. This one attracted me due to its promise of smooth caramel flavor. Dry Leaf What-Cha’s Keemun Mao Feng Black tea smells like burnt caramel and char scent. The dry leaf is tight thin wires of tea with the odd gold tip. Steeping Instructions I followed the steeping instructions stated on What-Cha’s packaging – 200f for a 3 minute infusion, using an in-mug tea… Continue reading, hoot!

Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Smoked Wuyi Black tea from Verdant Tea – Tea Review

The colder season has made black tea even more tasty than usual for me. I recently purchased a bunch of blacks from Verdant Tea. One of them I felt I was taking a bit of a risk on, Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Smoked Wuyi Black Tea, as I’m not huge on heavy smoked teas, I simply purchased for the recommendation that roasted oolong lovers would enjoy it. Let’s review it! Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong  Smoked Wuyi Black tea is crafted in the Wuyi Mountains from the Li Family. This is the Autumn 2014 batch. Pictured is the sample size, though I also have… Continue reading, hoot!

DAVIDsTea’s Glitter and Gold tea, Sparkling!

If you aren’t familiar, DAVIDsTea’s Glitter and Gold tea is a Chinese black tea blended with gold sugar balls, gold sugar crystals, lemon peel, cloves and vanilla. True to its namesake, Glitter and Gold does sparkle. Admittedly, if you brew this tea normally you might not see the tea sparkle. I owned 50 grams of this tea about 3 or 4 years ago and only once or twice saw it sparkle, an only when I used a glass tea mug. Not too long ago, I was gifted a couple servings of Glitter and Gold tea. One sleepy morning I decided to have a cup of Glitter… Continue reading, hoot!
