Ailaoshan Black Tea from Whispering Pines Tea Co.

Ailaoshan Black Tea is a 2014 harvest from the misty Ailao Mountain Nature Preserve in Yunnan China. This rich black tea is sold by Whispering Pines Tea Co, online tea seller based in Michigan. I had one of Whispering Pines Tea Co teas back in 2012 before I was tea blogging, Campfire Blend, and it was good. Then this tea seller slipped under my radar. I kept hearing more and more good things about their teas, so I decided to put in a small order to try Whispering Pines out again. They got lots of unique woodsy teas blended with pine needles and… Continue reading, hoot!

Azores Teas from What-Cha

Today I’ll be sampling two teas today – a green and a black from Gorreana Tea Estate, Sao Miguel Island, The Azores, the oldest tea estate in Europe. Both teas are from What-Cha, online tea seller. I had a classmate from the Azores who talked quite a bit about life there (and brought food from the portuegese bakery, yum!). I had no idea Azores had tea, but then Hawaii grows some awesome tea so I bet Azores would have great tea too. Tasting of What-Cha’s Azores Encosta de Bruma Premium Green Tea The dry leaf of Azores Encosta de Bruma Premium Green Tea… Continue reading, hoot!

La Perse Saffron Teas

So, when I think of a luxury tea I think of a really old pu’er cake or a taiwanese oolong blended by an old school tea master. What about luxury tea blends? Off the top of my head, teas with mulberries run pricey. How about teas with saffron in it, saffron being a very expensive spice? La Perse, UK tea seller, sells a saffron tea collection! I met this tea seller at the World Tea Expo. From what I read on the website, their teas are fair trade. I have the whole collection here: Black Ceylon Tea, Chamomile Flowers, Royal… Continue reading, hoot!

Zen Tea Traders – Oolong Owl Tea Review

One of the first booths I encountered at the World Tea Expo 2014 was Zen Tea Traders, who were super nice. Zen Tea Traders has some interesting blends, as well as some solid classic unflavored teas. Today I have Earl Grey Tahitian Blend and Peachy Peony. The teas I’m sampling came in tea bags, but Zen Tea Traders sells the tea in loose leaf. We also have a guest Oolong Owl assistant – Amigurumi Critter Fox! Tasting of Zen Tea Traders’ Earl Grey Tahitian Blend Earl Grey Tahitian Blend dry leaf has a bergamont zesty goodness scent and interestingly I can also smell a sweet creamy finish. The steeping instructions… Continue reading, hoot!

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea from Butiki Teas

Foxy Roxy’s Banana Walnut Treat Tea is a congou keemun black tea blend with organic walnuts, freeze dried bananas and organic lotus stamens. This tea is blended and sold by Butiki Teas, online tea seller based in New Jersey, USA. Bananas and walnuts are a staple at my house, so whenever I feel like it I can whip up a banana bread or making my husband’s favorite banana pancakes. Banana flavored things are more often misses with me, especially if it has that gross artificial taste. I was the kid who’d give all their banana runts to my dad. I’ve… Continue reading, hoot!

Azerchay Black Tea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Azerchay is a black tea from the tea gardens of Lenkoran and Astara region in Azerbaijan. If you are unfamiliar with Azerbaijan as I was, it is a country next to the Caspian Sea, near Georgia and Armenia, and sandwiched inbetween Russian and Iran. How did I acquire this tea? My in-laws recently came back from a river cruise through Russia and brought back some souvenirs. Apparently, I’m easy to shop for – just find some tea or a teapot! Dry Leaf First off, interesting packaging. Inside the box is a glued in bag of tea, making it annoying to reseal. However, the dry leaf is… Continue reading, hoot!

Country Breakfast Tea from Teafolks – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Country Breakfast Tea is a black tea with maple syrup, lapsang souchong, maple hickory smoked bacon jerky and chai spices – ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, coriander, cloves and black pepper. This wildly creative tea blend is from TeaFolks, tea seller based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their teas can be purchased online. First off, this tea has REAL BACON in it. This tea is not vegetarian! I’ve had bacon teas in the past, Maple Bacon Iced Tea from Southern Boy/ Zoomdweebies which has bacon flavors or imitation bacon in it but not the real stuff. I didn’t think real bacon tea could even… Continue reading, hoot!

Earl Grey Premium from Ocean of Tea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

Today’s review is Ocean of Tea’s Earl Grey Premium. Ocean of Tea is an online loose leaf tea seller. I really felt like Earl Grey today. I made a batch of lemon curd for my mother in law but also made myself an extra jar. My lemon curd has been in my fridge for awhile. So, I made some scones to have with my lemon curd. Scones and lemon curd? I need some black tea, an Earl Grey, to go with these tasty treats! Dry Leaf The dry leaf of Earl Grey Premium is super fragrant bergamont, wowee! Like fresh grated… Continue reading, hoot!

Fashionista Tea – Oolong Owl Tea Review

I had the pleasure of meeting Fashionista Tea at the World Tea Expo 2014! I quite liked the idea of combining fashion and tea – it also helps that I think tea is becoming more fashionable! What caught my eye right away was the sleek packaging for Fashionista Tea. The leopard print heels are a nice touch. A number of their teas are Fair Trade and Organic certified, available loose leaf and sachets. I also have the pleasure of reviewing some of Fashionista Tea teas! A couple of the feminine Tea Owls were happy to help! First up – Organic Fashionista Blend –… Continue reading, hoot!
