2023 Goldfu, Tianjian Fuzhuan and Mini from White2tea

Welcome back! This is part two of the 2023 February White2tea Club, but also a bunch of other teas thrown in. The 2023 February White2tea Club had a sample of 2023 Tianjian Fuzhuan. But also in my stash are the 2022 Tian Jian Mini, and 2023 Goldfu Fuzhuan. It seem more fitting to drink the confusing two Tianjians and also compare Goldfu, which was part of the same release of fu bricks. 2022 Tian Jian Mini The 2022 Tian Jian Minis came first before the Fuzhuan. These Anhua heicha balls contain high grade young and bud material. The compression on… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 November White2tea club feat. 2021 Sun Fu

The 2021 November White2tea club has the yearly amazing and exclusive Old Arbor Autumn Sheng Puer mini cake. However, also included is a sample of their new 2021 Sun Fu! 2021 Sun Fu I’ve been a quiet Fu Zhuan addict for years now. I feel I don’t talk about Fu Brick much as I fear comments of “Fu is gross dirty tea” but also “more Fu Brick for me”. Part, I don’t want people to know I have a problem. There are days I start with a gongfu session of fu and I lose 2 hours like a junkie. I’m… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 October White2tea Club feat. Liu An and Shou Samples

Finally, the 2021 October White2tea club! This month is a sampling extravaganza of White2tea’s latest teas. (yes yes, I’m behind a few months on the White2tea club as it is February – I’m catching up!) 2021 Liu An Gongjian I’ve had Liu An only a handful of times and half the experiences I wasn’t brewing it. This is also the youngest Liu An I’ve tried. The leaves smell nutty and sweet. I went with a 1g per 15ml ratio, steeped at a boil. This tea commands to be rinsed at least once or twice as the flavor is very low… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 April White2tea Club feat. 2021 Greens

2021 April White2tea club took its sweet time to arrive and shipping delays give me flashbacks to last year. This month in the club is fresh green tea and liubao! Also included is more of the lovely Yan hong, which I will skip as it was in a previous club box. Admittedly, I fear green tea month and have skipped in the past as I just do not like green tea. Again, I was too lazy to skip, so here I am. 2021 Spring Liubao from 2021 April White2tea Club Yet another fresh liubao. The scent is unusually floral for… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 March White2tea club feat. Liubao Laochapo Comparison

The 2021 March White2tea club is a wild one! Enclosed was Liubao Laochapo in both fresh and roasted forms, as well as Three Spot Guanyin. It has been a while since the last Liubao in the club, so happy to try something different. Three Spot Guanyin This Fujian Tieguanyin has a honey roasted scent, pretty close to smelling like Cheerios. I used around 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, and after a boiling rinse, the leaves give off a fruity nutty scent. Three Spot Guanyin has nutty milk, honey, and a bruised nectarine taste, with a floral… Continue reading, hoot!

2014-2017 Fu Zhuan From Moychay

Months back, Moychay sent me their collection of Fu Zhuan (Fu Bricks). I am a sucker for Golden Flower mold in my tea as I love the honey flavor and it gets me tea drunk. These teas I often buy but I write about the most accessible ones I find. Fu Zhuan is also affordable, though quality can be low and tends to have a dirty reputation. A number of times Fu bricks come up, I have gotten an, “Ew, you drink that?” response. To the task at hand – four Moychay Fu Zhuans, 2017, 2016, and two 2014s, clocking… Continue reading, hoot!

2000 Gold Dust Fuzhuan Anhua Heicha from Bitter Leaf Teas

I love moldy Fuzhuan (aka Fu Brick) teas. When Bitterleaf Tea came out with the 2000 Gold Dust Fuzhuan Anhua Heicha, I bought a full 250 gram bag. During the 2019 NW Tea Festival, this was the tea in my Fu Zhuan focus tasting class. As much as I love owning stupidly large bricks of Fuzhuan, Bitterleaf Tea’s broken bag makes it more convenient to drink. My package had three large chunks with some dust on the bottom to even out the weight. Leaf and Steeping Method Confirmed mold! Fu Bricks has a distinct scent, which Gold Dust also has.… Continue reading, hoot!
