Sunday Tea Hoots 31 – Blog vs Everyday Gongfu Style Tea Drinking

What I have been finding interesting is that I make tea differently for when I drink to write for Oolong Owl compared to my everyday drinking. Maybe you have noticed it? I own and post photos of tea pots, yet more often you see me using a gaiwan on my blog for tea reviews. I think the big thing comes down to how I approach Oolong Owl. What I really want to do as a blogger is present tea neutrally made and for you to be able to replicate it. There are still plenty of error of course, going down the gaiwan heat… Continue reading, hoot!

Etude House Bubble Tea Sleeping Pack – Tea Beauty Review

I love Korean beauty products and a sucker for buying anything tea (and owl) related. I came across these Etude House Bubble Tea Sleeping packs and had to have them! They come in 3 varieties – Green Tea, Black Tea, and Strawberry Tea. As much as I wanted all three, I purchased Green and Black tea as the Strawberry’s promised effect isn’t what I wanted for my feathers. Etude house Bubble Tea Sleeping Pack 516 grams each Should last at least a month if used daily. Black Tea – For improvement of skin elasticity and smooth skin. Green Tea –… Continue reading, hoot!

Will it Gongfu? Oolong Edition

We must ask the age old question…. Will it Gongfu? I’m sure it has been burning a hole in your gaiwan on whether non-gongfu typical teas will gongfu. There is quite a lot of things to cover, so just oolong for today. Will it Gongfu? Flavored Oolong I will be using Banana Oolong from 52 Teas. I admit, this tea is old and I need to drink it before it goes funky. However, this is a good blend that has things I like to see in a flavored tea – mostly tea (not trail mix), true to flavor, and does not have… Continue reading, hoot!

Hooty Tea Travels – Fridays at Phoenix Tea

I visited Phoenix Tea last year, however since then they have moved to a new location. Phoenix Tea is on the other end of Seattle for me, so I haven’t visited as much as I’d like to. However, I made the trek a couple Fridays ago as each week Crimson Lotus Tea is slinging tea, plus Teadb was making an appearance that day. I ended up hanging out there most of the day drinking tea. First, let’s tour the new Phoenix Tea location. The new shop is quite sprawling, which is great as there is lots of goodies to look at… Continue reading, hoot!

Sunday Tea Hoots 30 – Into the Depths of Amazon’s Tea World

In a night of tea drunkery and boredom, I descended into the depths of Amazon’s tea world. The madness started when I was linked this Collapsible Tea Kettle. At first I was impressed as this kettle is so space efficient and lime green! Rest assured, it also comes in bio-hazard orange! Then I read the 1 star reviews of the kettle melting violently when people left it unattended. I don’t think I am ever going to leave auto-shut-off boil-dry techno town. I then went down the search engine hole.. when you hit page 15 you start getting the weird stuff. Stuff that seems useful to only… Continue reading, hoot!

Hooty Tea Travels – Day at Floating Leaves Tea and ArtXchange Gallery

I had a long day last Saturday drinking tea at Floating Leaves Tea and visiting the ArtXchange Gallery in Seattle. Floating Leaves Tea has classes at least once a month, and this month we had some interesting oolongs she found on her recent sourcing trip to Taiwan. A couple teas were an educational tasting, as some where picked in late December or roasted very recently. It’ll be fun to drink these teas again in a few months once the roast has settled down. I drank 8 teas, some really interesting such as  Baozhong made with Chi Lan varietal and a Hong… Continue reading, hoot!

Sunday Tea Hoots 29 – Award and Sewing Havoc

Just a quick Sunday Tea Hoots this week. First off, I need to announce the awesomeness that is Oolong Owl being the 2016 Internet Community Winner from The Oolong Drunk! 2016 was a good year for tea community – with most of us North Americans being solo drinkers, reaching out to meet other tea drinkers is a great opportunity to share and enable each other to buy new teas with. I met a lot of cool tea people, in person and online, and it is great to have a growing group of tea buddies. Get out there and meet people! There are other cool… Continue reading, hoot!

Happy New Years! 2017! I have completed another year of tracking all my teas, how much I drank and received. Sunday Tea Hoots 28 – Post Surgery and 2016 Tea Advent Calender

I’ve been MIA lately due to recovering from surgery. When I expect to be MIA, I get some blog posts scheduled, but I had 3 days notice for my surgery so I didn’t have much time to prepare. I’m finally well enough to sit at a computer and type, yay! Over the last almost 2 weeks I’ve been mostly sleeping, knitting, and playing Pokemon Moon. Team Rowlet! Not much as tea drinking going on here other than a couple western cups of tea a day. When I was finally moving around enough to make tea, it would take 20 minutes to… Continue reading, hoot!

Sunday Tea Hoots 27 – Moldy times

Over the last few weeks I’ve been feeling under the weather with health issues. Worrying about upcoming medical insurance changes doesn’t help with the stress either. My response has been to camp in front of my computer with giant tea mugs, knitting, and World of Warcraft adventures. That said, my neglected owl house has been a disaster of messes – feathers, paper, boxes, fur, and dishes everywhere. My tea area is covered in a mound of tea pots, dirty cups, samples, tea books, and handouts. In a moment of “I’m going to get stuff done!” mood, I cleaned up my tea… Continue reading, hoot!
