2021 August White2tea Club feat. Moon Bear White

International shipping really screwed me on the August White2tea club package – I got it in late November. Something about August packages that were really slow. Now I’m catching up. When I drank the September club it referenced these teas, so finally, it is time! Today is the long awaited August White2tea club. This one I was pumped for as it has an exclusive white cake! 2021 Everyman’s Baimudan The leaves smell of weedy paper. The leaves are incredibly light. My ratio is the usual 1gram of leaf per 20ml, steeped at a boil. After an infusion, the leaves refresh… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 December White2tea Club feat. 2021 XXXmas Sheng Puer

Happy Holidays! As a tradition, the White2tea club sends out a 200 gram huangpian cake for the month of December. Like previous years, this is the 2021 XXXmas sheng puer! Yes, I am missing a few months of the club and skipping ahead to the December box. Blame the current chaos that is international shipping so I have tea clubs out of sync. I rather drink this tea on Christmas than 3 months later when I catch up on tea clubs. Leaf and Steeping Method The leaves have a faint nutty floral scent. I used a gongfu ratio of 1… Continue reading, hoot!

August through November I’ve had all my packages from China either show up immediately or months. 2021 Baimudan White from 2021 September White2tea club The fresh Baimudan leaves are shades of light and dark green mixed with fuzzy silver buds, all with an itchy freshly cut timothy hay and floral scent.… Continue reading, hoot!

2020 Mud Sheng Puer from White2tea

Today’s tea is White2tea’s 2020 Mud Sheng Puer. I purchased this sample as it sounded up my alley with promises of mega huigan (returning sweetness aftertaste). Yes, I know I’m way behind in the White2tea club but I am at the mercy of China Post. In the meantime, let’s drink some Mud. Leaf and Steeping Method Mud’s leaves have a honey sweet scent. As usual, a gongfu ratio of 1gram per 15ml vessel, steeped in boiling water. After a rinse, the wet leaves have a honey nut and tangy grass scent. Tasting of White2tea’s 2020 Mud Sheng Puer First and… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 July White2tea Club feat. Guangzhou Storage Puer

White2tea has lovely natural storage located in Guangzhou City. The 2021 July White2tea club is a flex comparison between 2013 Yiwu sheng puer stored in Guangzhou and not Guangzhou. 2013 GZ Natural Storage Yiwu Sheng Puer The leaves have a bruised peaches and copper scent. As usual and for both teas, I used a gongfu ratio of 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped in boiling water. After a rinse, the leaves smell like a fruity pawn shop. First, Second, and Third Infusion: 2013 GZ Natural Storage Yiwu starts off light and sweet with a blur of… Continue reading, hoot!

2020 Moon Waffles White Tea from White2tea

My love of Yunnan White tea knows no bounds! I blind purchased a cake of 2020 Moon Waffles, a bud-heavy Yunnan white tea that is pressed into a convenient thin waffle pattern. I am a fan of White2tea’s Waffles shou, so it was exciting to see a white tea waffle! Leaf and Steeping Method The cake is gorgeous with the dark leaves mixed with furry silver buds, all with a faintly floral scent. Thankfully, it is not difficult to snap off squares of white tea. For gongfu style, I used 1gram of leaf per 20ml of vessel size, steeped in… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 June White2tea Club feat. 2021 Hype Sheng Puer

Another year of HYPE! June’s White2tea club included a full cake of 2021 Hype Sheng Puer. The months White2tea includes a full cake is always a deal ($38 a cake vs $29.99 tea club price). Also included is a sample of 2021 Yesheng Gushu Baicha Maocha, which is available in cake form. 2021 Hype Sheng Puer from 2021 June White2tea Club The cake has a vegetal peppery scent. As usual, I used 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, gongfu style with boiling water. The hot leaves have a steamed banana leaves scent. First, Second, and Third Infusion:… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 May White2tea club feat. 2021 Spring Old Arbor Sheng

I was awaiting the yearly The Thing Is / RIP Chicken mini cake, but this year White2tea pressed it into 200gram cakes for everyone to purchase, so instead our $$$$ fancy mini cake is a 2021 Spring Old Arbor. Leaf and Steeping Method The scent is vegetal with a bit acidic but mainly smells very fresh. I used a gongfu ratio of 1 gram of leaf per 15ml of vessel size, steeped with boiling water. 200f/ 93c also would have been a good choice in water temperature. After a rinse, the tea has a sweet bell pepper and pan charred… Continue reading, hoot!

2017 Sunday Special Shou from White2tea

Back in 2017 White2tea’s 2017 Sunday Special shou was funky wet piled scented on arrival. It sat in my shou-pumidor for over 3 years, waiting for the right time to drink. Not too long ago, it has come to my attention that Sunday Special settled down to delicious, so let’s give this small batch shou a try. Leaf and Steeping Method 2017 Sunday Special shou has the scent of medicinal dirt – better smelling than it was back in 2017. I used 1gram of leaf per 14ml vessel gongfu ratio, with boiling water temperature. After a rinse, the leaves smell… Continue reading, hoot!

2021 April White2tea Club feat. 2021 Greens

2021 April White2tea club took its sweet time to arrive and shipping delays give me flashbacks to last year. This month in the club is fresh green tea and liubao! Also included is more of the lovely Yan hong, which I will skip as it was in a previous club box. Admittedly, I fear green tea month and have skipped in the past as I just do not like green tea. Again, I was too lazy to skip, so here I am. 2021 Spring Liubao from 2021 April White2tea Club Yet another fresh liubao. The scent is unusually floral for… Continue reading, hoot!
